The auctioneer’s voice was climbing an octave with every second.

Tatiana sighed. “Jasper, enough.”

“Ann likes it.” He cut her off and raised the paddle again.

The hammer came down at 1.2 million dollars. Amidst a wave of applause, Jasper took the crystal–bound book and handed it to a bodyguard. “Get this back to the hotel.”

What followed was a straight–up bidding war.

When a 1928 crystal pony came up, Tatiana only gave it a passing glance. That was all Jasper needed. He hit the double–bid button on the console immediately.

“Number 88 bids two million!”

Tatiana rubbed her temples. “What’s the excuse for this one?”

“Doesn’t it look like that pony Ann wanted?” Jasper whispered. “In the jungle, she said she wanted a horse. I’ll give her the model now and buy her a real one when we get home.”

Before she could even respond, the price hit three million.

As they loaded the crystal pony into a secure case for transport, Tatiana let out a long breath. “You’ve completely lost it.”

Jasper just smiled, winding a lock of her hair around his finger. “Wait until the next lot before you start calling me crazy.”

She was curious now, but she had a bad feeling about where he was going with this.

The big screen flickered to a shot of deep space, showing a newly discovered asteroid.

“Item 100. Naming rights for a minor planet.” The auctioneer read the specs. “The winner gets to name asteroid 2023JX356.”

Jasper raised his paddle. “Five million.”

A few other people tried to jump in, but Jasper shut them down every time. The price finally hit a staggering thirteen million dollars.

No one else moved.

Jasper leaned in from behind, his warmth pressing against her as he handed her a glass of champagne. “Still think I’m crazy?”

Tatiana turned around. The light from the screen reflected off her skin. She grabbed his tie and pulled him down. Right before she kissed him, she whispered, “Just the right amount. It’s actually pretty hot.”

He didn’t hesitate to take the kiss, even with the whole room watching. By now, everyone knew Jasper was willing to burn through a fortune just to keep his girlfriend happy.

As the auction wrapped up, the final item hit the stage. Cobalt Mine No. 7. Starting bid3, 00 million dollars.

This was what everyone was actually here for. The mood in the room shifted instantly. It got cold and competitive. Jasper leaned forward, tapping his paddle against the table. He was ready

to end it.

“This one is mine,” she said, a sharp, confident look in her eyes.

Jasper raised an eyebrow and then smirked. He pulled his paddle back and leaned into his chair, looking relaxed and entertained.

“Five hundred million.” Tatiana raised her paddle. Her voice was steady and loud.

The room erupted.

“Number 88 bids five hundred million!” the auctioneer shouted.

Someone nearby scoffed. “Just a hobby for her.” He raised his own paddle. “Six hundred million.”

Tatiana didn’t even look at him. “One billion.”

“One point zero five billion!” the man bit back.
