Chapter 597 Warning Shots
“I didn’t see her.”
“Liam! You can’t be serious. Look at Mandolin’s head. She’s a girl; what if she’s scarred for life? That kid needs to pay for this!”
“Pay? The family has more than enough money for a doctor. You aren’t looking for a settlement, Holdbert. You’re looking for an excuse.”
Holdbert Langstrom choked on his words before snapping back. “Liam! Mandolin is your niece. Why the hell are you taking a stranger’s side?”
“Mandolin needs to learn. If she keeps acting like this, she’s going to hit a wall she can’t break.”
“Enough! You don’t have kids, Liam. You wouldn’t get it.”
Liam didn’t bother arguing.
Holdbert stormed out, fuming.
Liam took a breath. He’d left one thing out. He knew exactly who that little girl belonged to. He’d seen Tatiana with her and a little boy earlier that day.
He didn’t say a word to the family. Instead, he tracked down Tatiana’s number and called her.
Tatiana wasn’t surprised. She wanted to see what the Langstroms were playing at, so she agreed
to meet.
Liam didn’t pick some basic restaurant. He chose a high-end, hidden villa. The place was all traditional wood and quiet luxury, the kind of spot where people go when they don’t want to be overheard.
When Tatiana walked in, Liam was already waiting.
“Sorry I’m late.”
“You’re not. I was early. Sit down.”
She took a seat and looked around. “Nice place.”
The room was full of genuine antiques and expensive decor. It had a balcony with a hell of a view. The Langstroms clearly didn’t do anything halfway.
“Glad you like it.”
A server came in to pour
the tea.

“Try it. What do you think?”
She took a sip. “I don’t know shit about tea. It’s probably wasted on me.”
Liam chuckled. “It’s just tea. If it stops you being thirsty, it’s doing its job.”
They talked shop for a bit. Liam was smooth, but he wasn’t giving anything away. Tatiana didn’t push. She just waited.
The food was top-tier. Every dish looked like a masterpiece. Tatiana made a mental note to bring Gordon and the kids here.
“Tatiana, can I ask you something? Are you married?”
She stopped eating. “No.”
“Do you have kids?”
“Yes.” She didn’t feel like lying about it.
Liam didn’t look shocked. He just looked like he’d finally confirmed a hunch. He didn’t ask about the father. Instead, he brought up the mall.
“Mandolin is spoiled. She was out of line, and I’m sorry. She got what she deserved, so I’m hoping we can just move past it.”
“Kids handle their own shit. We don’t need to get involved.”
Liam heard the warning in her voice. He looked frustrated. “The elders in the family coddle her. It might get messy. You should probably keep your daughter at home for a while.”
Tatiana dropped the act. Her eyes went cold. “Are you threatening my daughter?”
“No. I promise I’ll try to stop them.”
“Then what are you saying?”
Liam sighed. “Mandolin’s father… he’s a bit obsessive when it comes to her.”
She got it. She put her fork down and wiped her mouth. “He won’t have time to worry about this for much longer.”
“What?”
“I’m busy, Liam. I’m leaving.”
“Tatiana…”
