Chapter 688 Lucas Sacrifices His Life For Her

Before she could think, her body moved.-

“Alima!”

Tammy lunged without hesitation, shoving Manna toward a safer area.

The force sent her off balance, She lost her footing and fell into the void.

“Tammy!” Lucas, just steadying himself, saw it and lunged.

He caught her wrist at the last second.

But above them, a massive chunk of concrete broke loose-a deadly weight.

There was no time to dodge.

Lucas braced himself and took the blow with his back.

“Ugh!”

A muffled grunt. The impact sent a jolt through him. His hand slipped.

They dropped toward the dark water.

“Hold on!”

A strong arm shot down from above and grabbed Tammy’s other wrist.

Norman.

He was half-leaning over the broken edge, veins bulging as he stopped their fall.

The image froze.

Norman holding Tammy. Tammy holding Lucas, blood at his lips.

The three of them dangled like a fragile chain.

Below Lucas, dark water with debris and oil. Struggling figures.

“Lucas! Hold on!”

Tammy felt his grip slipping and screamed.

“Don’t let go!”

Lucas looked up at Norman-face twisted with strain-then at Tammy.

His back was agony from the hit. His shoulder blade was shattered. Internal bleeding.

He analyzed his situation rationally, fully aware that he could not hold on for much longer and that he would drag then all down with him.

A thought formed.

He looked at Tammy one last time. No fear in his eyes-only a gentle finality.

He’d done many things in his life. He didn’t regret most of them. But he’d made one mistake.

He’d hurt someone he loved.

He’d always wanted to make up for it. Never found the chance.

Maybe this was it.

“Tammy, did I ever tell you something?”

She was gripping him with everything she had. She barely heard him.

“Shut up! I don’t want to hear it! Hold on!”

She looked up and yelled at Norman, “If you’re a man, hold on!”

Norman snapped, “Do I need to prove it to you?!”

But both their weight was too much. They kept slipping.

Tammy felt Lucas dropping and panicked.

“Lucas! Hold on tighter!”

But he shook his head-slightly, firmly.

“No… Lucas! No!”

She knew what he meant. She screamed.

Lucas used his last strength to give her a bloody, gentle smile.

He called up to Norman, “Hey! Norman!”

“Shut up! Climb up!”

“Take care of Tammy. Don’t hurt her again. We both owe her that.”

They both knew what he meant.

And then-he let go.

“Lucas-!”
