Chapter 98

Britney had given Patti the plan, and she trusted Patti to use her own judgment on how to go about it.

Sure enough. Patti didn’t let her down.

Not long after Britney left the hospital, Patti posted a long, tell-all exposé online, revealing how Amara had forced her to leave Aaron back then.

Patti also recorded a video, and it was obvious from the background that she was still at the hospital. In the video, she publicly and formally apologized to Britney.

She admitted to hurting Britney in the past, including the things she said when she tried to take her own life. She said it was just because she was too obsessed with Aaron.

She hoped Britney could forgive her.

In the video, Patti broke down in tears as she called out Amara for all the threats and the way she treated her back then.

Britney saw the video.

Even though Patti didn’t come up with any solid evidence in the video, it still helped prove Britney was innocent, at least indirectly.

That was just the kind of result Britney had been hoping for.

I just hope Patti’s next move won’t disappoint me either,’ Britney thought to herself.

Just thinking about Aaron chasing her down at the office again was enough to make Britney sick of it.

By noon, Britney heard that Amara had been called in for questioning. Aaron must’ve gotten wind of it too, because he rushed off from outside the Santos Group building.

Lynette stood by Britney and reported, “Aaron’s gone. Word is, Patti’s suing Amara, but chances are it won’t work out. The Galloway family’s already getting ready to step in.”

“Britney, do you really think Patti can actually become part of the Galloway family like she wants?” Lynette asked, still sounding worried.

Britney shot back, “Why not?”

Lynette didn’t hold back. “Patti’s clever, but compared to the Galloway family, she’s just not on their level.”

‘Even if she sues Amara now, what good will it do?’ Lynette thought to herself.

Isn’t that just giving the Galloway family even more reason to taget her?’

Honestly, Britney hadn’t expected Patti to go straight to suing Amara. She figured Patti would try to confront Amara by

herself instead.

So Patti’s not as naive as I thought.

Britney shook her head. Just think about it. Patti’s got the evidence from back then. If she goes to Amara alone, what if Amara tries to mess with her again, just like before?’

‘Patti already got screwed over by Amara a few years ago. No way she’s letting that happen again!

This time, Patti wised up. She was just suing her now, and she din’t have to show her cards from the start.

But now that everything had blown up online, everyone knew what Amara did to her.

If Amara tried to make a move on her now, it wouldn’t be so easy with all eyes on them.

Right now, Patti had gotten the perfect leverage to negotiate with Amara.

Lynette listened to Britney’s analysis and suddenly got it. Patti’sove really was the smartest way to go.

But if she thought this alone would get her into the Galloway family, it was going to take a lot more than that.

Suddenly, Britney had an idea and turned to Lynette. “See if you can score me a ticket for tomorrow’s ‘Spring Encounter anime convention.”

Lynette immediately posted a high-priced request in the group that, looking for a ticket.

Soon enough, someone messaged Lynette, saying they had a ticket available.

Lynette was chatting with the seller while updating Britney. “Got one, but they’re asking for five times the regular price.”

“As long as it’s legit, that’s all that matters,” Britney instructed Lynette. “Have them list it on a resale site, and make sure it’s delivered locally today. No matter the price, I want it in my hands by tonight.”

Last night, Britney saw that one section of the convention had invited Chester, but the organizers hadn’t confirmed if she’d really attend. They were just using her name to hype things up.

Either way, Britney was set on going to try her luck and see what happens.

Not long after, Lynette said, “Done. I paid, and she’s already set up a local delivery. It’s not far, and we’re covering the courier fee. She was pretty chill about it.”

“I’ll go down and grab it when it gets here,” Lynette said quietly.

Britney suddenly thought of Sienna. “Is Sienna still stirring up trouble over there?”

Lynette picked up the thread, “She’s still throwing out offers trying to lure our people away, but no one’s paying her any attention. Word is, Sienna’s so pissed she’s turning pale.”

Sienna herself must be wondering why it was so damn hard to peach anyone from Britney’s side.

It wasn’t just about the high pay. What really mattered was the freedom. Britney never forced anyone in the design department to stick to a rigid 9-to-5 schedule.

Just give her a heads-up and hit your deadlines, and you could be off traveling somewhere. Britney would even pick up the tab for your trip.

Britney gave everyone the freedom and respect they wanted,

That’s why so many people chose to stay and build the company with Britney from the ground up.

Besides, Santos Group might not be as big as it once was, but with that kind of experience on your resume, you’d still be in high demand wherever you went.

Lynette suddenly remembered something. “Oh, by the way, Lorenzo couldn’t reach you this morning, so he called the office. He wants to have dinner with you tonight.”

When Lynette picked up, she subtly mentioned that Britney was pretty busy.

But the old man just chuckled and said he understood. He simply missed Britney and wanted to share a meal with her.

He told Lynette he’d already booked a private room at Moonview Restaurant, and no matter how late Britney was, he’d wait

for her.

With him putting it like that, Lynette didn’t have much to say.

Lynette had no choice but to clear that slot in Britney’s calendar

Britney thought about it for a bit, then nodded in agreement.

She wasn’t keen on getting too close to the Galloway family, but Lorenzo had always been good to her, and she just couldn’t say no to him.

Once Britney said yes, Lynette passed along the private room number for Moonview Restaurant.

Since she had dinner plans, Britney left the office a little early.

She swung by the World Trade Tower mall to grab some health tonics, then made her way to Moonview Restaurant.

When Britney got to the private room, Lorenzo was already there.

Britney, a little embarrassed, said, “Lorenzo, sorry I kept you wailing.”

Britney hadn’t thought he’d get there so early.

‘Letting an elder wait for you just isn’t right, Britney thought to herself.

Lorenzo waved Britney over and patted the seat next to him.

When he saw the things Britney was carrying, he said with a resigned smile, “Why did you go and spend money again?”

“It’s just a small token, Lorenzo. I hope you don’t mind,” Britney said as she handed him the gifts.

Lorenzo accepted them with a warm grin. “Not at all. You always know exactly what I like.”

Britney responded with a soft smile.

Lorenzo leaned in, full of concern. “So, how’s it been since you took over the company these last couple of days? Are you worn out? Is it tough on you?”

Britney shook her head after his barrage of questions. “Honestly it’s fine. It’s not that hard or exhausting.”

She’d already been keeping tabs on the company before, so now she was just a little busier than usual, that’s all. Everything else was going well.

When Britney noticed that Lorenzo had ordered all her favorite lishes, she felt a warm rush in her heart. ‘He really remembers what I like,’ Britney thought, genuinely touched.
