Everything Was a Deal Until Diverge
Chapter 127 Not Your Date
“It’s me.” Dorian sounded impatient, his tone clipped.
“Ljust got here too, haven’t eaten yet. Mind if I join you

She clearly only had eyes for Dorian. Too caught up in the moment to notice Arden sitting quietly across from him.
Dorian’s voice stayed flat, “No. I’m meeting someone.”
Mira’s smile faltered instantly. “Wait, you are?”
Only then did she glance to the side–spotting Arden quietly cutting into her steak. Her expression dimmed. Dorian is having dinner… with Arden.
Trying to hold it together, Mira smoothed her features. Arden?”
Arden looked up and gave her a polite nod. “Miss Luce.”
“What a coincidence, running into each other again.”
Arden raised an eyebrow, glanced at Dorian, and nodded. “Yeah, small world.”
“Would you mind if I joined you?”
Arden didn’t see a reason to say no.
“Sure.”
Dorian turned his eyes on Arden. He stared at her for a while. This woman.
Mira pulled out a chair and was about to sit when Dorian set down his knife and fork, lifting his gaze coldly. “I said no. You really gonna sit down anyway? Can’t take a hint?”
The man was in a white shirt, clean–cut but radiating pressure. His jaw tightened visibly. And Mira–yeah, she wasn’t bold enough to sit.
But she didn’t give up. “Dorian, Mr. Sinclair’s birthday banquet is tomorrow, right? You don’t have a date yet. Let me go with you?”
Dorian turned to Arden. “I already have a date. Ask someone else.”
Mira’s smile barely held together. Her voice trembled slightly. “You do? Who?”
“Arden.”
Arden waved her hands quickly. “I’m not his date.”
Dorian narrowed his eyes at her. “Arden, if I say you are then you are.”
Of course she knew the Sinclairs. They were one of the oldest and most powerful families in Zevia. Her brother and Ares were good friends.
She, on the other hand, was younger than all of them–her brother, Ares, Dorian–different circles, different age groups. She had no plans to attend. But the Sinclair family had still sent an invite to Caleb.
Her brother would definitely be there tomorrow night. And she’d much rather go with him.

“I already have a date,” she said calmly.
Dorian’s face darkened. “Who?”
“Doesn’t matter. I’m not going with Mr. Vale.”
Over the past three years, Dorian had returned to Avale for a number of events–but never once stepped foot in Silverbay Villa. He always avoided seeing Arden
At the banquets, they showed up separately, never interacted. If their eyes met, it was for a second before turning away. Strangers in every sense of the word.
When the event ended, she went home. He caught a red eye to Soutaria. “Cancel your date. You’re coming with me.”
“I’m not.”
Arden shut it down without hesitation. Who gave him the right to summon her like she was on–call?
Mira heard Arden say she already had a date, and her heart skipped with hope. “Dorian, then let me be your date.”
Dorian shot her a cold glance. “You want me to repeat myself? Don’t stand here and ruin my night.”
That send–off stung. Mira bit her lip, eyes glistening with disbelief. Dorian had just snapped at her.
Clenching her fists, she forced a smile. “Text me anytime. I’ll be waiting.”
Then she turned and left. As soon as she stepped out, she pulled out her phone and messaged her brother on WhatsApp.
Mira texted, “Barry, is Dorian seeing someone?”
Barry replied, “Told you before, he’s not someone you should be chasing. Give it up. He’s never going to like you.”
The coldest men are often the most heartless. And he was married secretly.
Now it actually seemed like he was into his secret wife. Mira was the type to run straight at a wall if she wanted something–and no one could talk her down.
“That’s not true,” Mira said. “When I was studying abroad, he took such good care of me. I know he liked me back.”
“He helped you because I asked him to,” Barry shot back “After I nearly lost my leg protecting him. You really think he cares about you?”
“No way,” Mira said. “He bought me that five–hundred–million–dollar necklace without even blinking. He said if I liked it, that was enough.”
Barry let out a short, humorless laugh. “You’ve always wanted that necklace. I couldn’t make it to the auction that night, so I asked Dorian to bid on it for you. It wasn’t from him, got it?” He stared her down. “Stop making up a fantasy. Dorian’s out of your league.”
Mira stared at her screen as tears welled up. So all of that… had been because of her brother?

Every socialite in Avalen had envied her for that necklace, thought it was a sign she’d marry into the Vale fanuly.
