Chapter 244 The Wrong Comparison
“I do,” Noah replied. “I learned at home. You’re Isla, right?”
Isla blinked. “You remember me?”
“Of course,” Noah said. “Arden’s friend. We’ve met before.”
“Well that’s perfect,” Isla said happily. “We don’t know how to deal with shrimp or crab at all.”
Noah glanced at Arden, smiling. “Happy to help. You just wait to eat tonight.”

Because Ares and Dorian were standing nearby, and because Arden and Ruby were intentionally keeping their distance, Noah focused entirely on Arden and didn’t notice the two men at first.
“Let me introduce my friends,” Arden said.
She introduced Ruby and Celine.
Celine studied Noah carefully. This was bad.
Even she could tell–Noah was good–looking, gentle, tall, and matched Arden almost too well. Someone who looked like he’d treat Arden carefully, like she was something precious.
She instinctively glanced at her brother.
Dorian stood there in all black, his expression darker than when he’d arrived.
His face was sharp and striking, a different kind of attractiveness entirely–but cold, distant, hard to approach. Like someone who didn’t know how to be gentle.
No wonder Arden left him.
Noah greeted them politely and joked, “Thanks to you all, I get to eat Arden’s homemade grill tonight.”
Arden felt embarrassed. “I hope you don’t mind that I invited you last minute. It probably feels like I called you over just to help us cook.”
“Not at all, Noah said. “It’s the weekend. A backyard cookout is perfect. You guys pick the other stuff. I’u handle this.”
Just as Arden was about to agree, Dorian spoke.
“Arden,” he said coldly. “You introduced Ruby and Celine, but not me or Ares?
Noah turned at the sound of his voice and saw Dorian.
He recognized him instantly.
The man from the bar. The one who’d pulled Arden into his atins and told him to stay away
Noah paused, meeting Dorian’s gaze calmly.

“Arden,” Noah asked, “who is this?”
“Oh,” Arden hesitated briefly. “He’s Celine’s brother, and… my boss. His name is Dorian. Chairman of Vale Group.”
Dorian narrowed his eyes slightly at her wording. “Your boss?” he said coolly. “Interesting introduction.”
“You are my boss,” Arden replied. “And Celine’s brother. That’s all.”
Dorian adjusted his cuff. Noah extended his hand. “Mr. Vale. Nice to meet you.”
He was polite and neutral, no flattery in his tone–standing straight, expression open, the kind of young man people instinctively liked, and about the same age as Arden.
Dorian glanced at Noah’s hand before shaking it briefly. “You’re Arden’s senior from college? You seem close.”
“We’re in the same major. I was a year ahead. I helped with freshman orientation when she first came to Avalen University. We competed together. Arden’s hardworking. She leaves an impression.”
Noah picked up the net again. “Looks like we’ve got a lot of people tonight. I’ll grab more. Are you hungry? Want to pick up some desserts first?”
Noah had already noticed the possessiveness in Dorian’s eyes.
If this man was really just Arden’s boss, someone like Arden could easily be bullied by him.
Noah pushed the thought aside and looked at Arden.
