Everything Was a Deal Until Divorce
Chapter 272 Not So Fast
She turned to leave.
Dorian tugged the hem of her coat. “Arden, I’m giving you a full day off. Don’t rush out. There’s a quest room across the hall–there’s a bed, fresh sheets. I’ll have Martha make it up?
Arden turned back. “Mr. Vale, your fever’s gone. You’ve got a whole team here–Martha’s around, and the doctors too. Not to mention Celine, I’d rather just go home.
“What time did you get here last night?”
Arden pulled his hand off. “Celine said you’d been given a critical notice. That you might die. I got here a little after midnight”
Dorian met her eyes. “So, you were worried about me?”
“No, Celine was crying hard. I was worried she might lose it.”
“You don’t care about me, but you stayed the whole night?”
That pissed her off.
She raised her hand–the same one he’d been gripping all night. “Mr. Vale, see this? You held my hand all night. Wouldn’t let go. I had no choice.”
She quickly added, “I was forced. Not by choice.”
Seeing the red marks on her wrist, Dorian’s face twitched with guilt. “My bad. I lost control”
Arden frowned. “You’re not planning some weird revenge, right?”
Dorian blinked. “What?”
“You know, for when I dumped that coffee on you. You’re not gonna break my arm or something?”
He laughed softly. “Arden, do you really think I’m that petty?”
She nodded, “Yeah. Aren’t you always that petty?”
“If I wanted to break your arm, would I have waited this long?”
“But I didn’t just spill coffee. I splashed you and your precious girl. And she was pregnant. You’re no exactly a forgive–and–forget type, Mr. Vale.”
At the mention of the “pregnant woman,” Dorian figured it was time to clear the air.
He looked at her seriously. “I was actually going to talk to you about that. Don’t go yet.”

even start. Arden stayed up all night taking care of you while you were out of it with a fever. You should be thanking her. And your so–called wife? You got shot, stabbed, and nearly died, and she couldn’t even bother to show up? What kind of woman just vanishes when you’re fighting for your life?”
Dorian sighed. “Help me sit up first.”
Celine came over, still ranting, “I don’t care if she gave you a kid. I’ll never accept her as my sister–in–law. That child? You cheated during your marriage, didn’t you? Arden still came to see you, and that makes her a saint in my book. So you better not mess with her.”
He was heavy.
Celine couldn’t lift him alone. “Arden, help me out.”
Arden didn’t want to touch him. “I’ll go call someone from the living room.”
As she walked out, Dorian kept his eyes on her. Celine huffed, “Serves you right. I’m telling you. Arden’s got a whole line of guys waiting. You broke her heart. Your loss.”
Dorian gave her a look. “You didn’t say anything crazy in front of Mom, Dad, or the grandparents last night, did you?”
“I’m not you. I don’t go around being rebellious.”
Arden came back with Lucien, who helped Celine get Dorian propped up.
From the door, Arden said, “Celine, I’m heading out. Let’s catch up sometime.”
Dorian stopped her. “Arden, I need to talk to you.”
She looked surprised. “Mr. Vale, I have nothing to say, and I’m not interested in what you have to say.”
“It’s about the pregnant woman.”
Arden looked down. “I’m not interested in your wife or your kid.”
She turned to leave.
Dorian panicked. “I don’t have a wife. That ‘pregnant woman‘ was Colton in disguise.”
Celine froze. “What?! Colton was the pregnant woman?!”
