Chapter 293 You’re the One Undressing
Arden froze.
He was staring at her, something unreadable in his eyes.
“That’s inappropriate. There are boundaries,” Arden pushed back.
“This is part of your job as a personal assistant,” Dorian replied calmly.
Finished
Arden muttered under her breath, “If I’d known this so–called reassignment meant babysitting a tyrant, I never would’ve taken this job.”
Dorian narrowed his eyes, “What was that?”
“You seriously don’t have any other moves besides threatening people? Big man with your title and power. Don’t you get tired of using my brother as leverage? You’re the one getting undressed here, not me. If you’re not embarrassed, why should I be?”
She clenched her fists. Maybe it was time to start actively looking for job offers at the next industry conference. Anything to get out of Vale Group. And out of Dorian’s orbit.
Dorian stood up slowly, “See? That wasn’t so hard.”
He took a step and noticed she hadn’t moved. Turning back, he said, “Coming or not?”
Arden glanced at Lucien, “Who bathed him last night?”
Lucien looked down, “Kade and I did.”
Figures.
She got to her feet. “I know the way.”
“Then follow,” Dorian said coolly.
He led the way upstairs, with Arden trailing behind. The master bedroom.
He pushed the door open. Arden stepped in silently, her face calm, but her heart was an earthquake. This place held three years of her life–now she was just a guest.
She headed into the bathroom to start the bath. Dorian was at the wardrobe pulling out a robe.
Once the tub was filled, Arden called out, “Mr. Vale, it’s ready.”
He entered. And with him came a pressure that seemed to suck all the air from the room.

Chapter 293 You’re the One–dressing
Arden stiffened immediately. Just do your job. It’s just work. Think of it like… a professional
service.
She swallowed hard.
The bathroom steamed around them. Her face turned pink–maybe from the heat, maybe not.
“Why are you standing there?” Dorian asked, “Help me undress.”
“You’ve still got two working arms. You don’t need my help,” Arden shot back, unmoving.
Neither of them moved.
“You’re wasting hot water,” she said at last, biting her lip.
Dorian’s gaze didn’t leave her face as he began to unbutton his shirt himself.
He was only wearing a dress shirt–he’d taken off his blazer earlier. The buttons came undone one by one, exposing firm muscles and scarred skin.
Arden didn’t want to look, but the lights were bright, and he was right there. Her eyes had nowhere else to go.
His torso was covered in old and new scars. Her gaze finally settled on the long, fresh wound on his abdomen–one she hadn’t seen clearly before.
He reached for his belt.
“Mr. Vale,” Arden interjected quickly.
“Hmm?” He looked up, fingers paused at the buckle.
“We’ll… wash the upper half first.”
Dorian smirked. He glanced down, then at her again, clearly catching her meaning. “Alright. Let’s start there.”
“Or maybe I should call Lucien?” she offered weakly.
“Arden, I’m paying you a premium salary. You think you get that just to fetch coffee?”
She swallowed.
“I’m seriously injured. I couldn’t touch you even if I wanted to.”
She took a deep breath. This is just a job. High pay. Nothing else.

She crouched down beside the bath, dipped the towel, wrung it out, and approached him, tec was tall, broad and overpowering. She was small in front of him, delicate.
Focus. Just focus.
Dorian kept his gaze trained on her, watching as her lashes trembled.
Nervous. She reached out and pressed the towel to his chest.
The moment her hand touched him, something deep in his chest surged violently. He flinched slightly.
“Too hot?” she asked.
Dorian exhaled, his voice rougher now, “No. It’s fine.”
There were too many wounds. She carefully tried to avoid each one, her movements light, careful.
“Why so many new scars? I thought you were just on a business trip.”
“Someone tried to kill me,” he said simply.
