Dorian didn’t even blink. He slid the plate of crab right back across the table. “She likes crab. I’ll peel it for her. I’m her boyfriend. You’re the guest. Eat yours.”
Then he pushed the steak toward Arden. “Go on. Eat up. If it’s not enough, I’ll give you mine
too.”
Arden glanced at him. His features were sharp and composed. He had his sleeves rolled up, already wearing gloves, and was focused on peeling the crab–calm, quiet, methodical.
With the warm light above the table spilling down on him, he looked… normal. Human. Not like the cold, untouchable version she was used to.
“You said you like crab. Eat. You want shrimp too?”
Arden nodded. “I do.”
“Alright. Steak and crab first. I’ll do the shrimp next.”
“…Okay.”
She lowered her head and started eating. Honestly, tonight’s version of Dorian felt almost
unreal.
While still focused on peeling crab, Dorian didn’t miss a beat. “This meal’s on me. But thanks for uploading that video. It helped Arden. Just… don’t ask her out again. She’s got plans–with
me.”
Vincent was finally seeing just how controlling this man really was. Even this he had to manage?
“My connection with Arden is something you’ll never understand. I asked her out. Not you. That’s not your business.”
Dorian looked up slowly, eyes cold. “Try me.”
All through dinner, Dorian took care of Arden completely. When she finally set down her utensils, he stood up, grabbed her purse, and slung it over his arm.
He looked at Caleb. “I’ll take her home,”
Caleb had seen some things tonight. Dorian cutting steak? Peeling crab? Peeling shrimp? Yeah, something was definitely up. This guy might actually like his sister.
He nodded. “Arden, text me when you’re home.”

Vincent added, “Yeah, let me know you got back safe.”

Dorian reached over and pulled Arden in, resting his hand on her waist, drawing her toward him.
He raised an eyebrow. “You gave him your WhatsApp?”
“Mm–hmm.”
He scowled. “Delete him.”
“No.”
He gritted his teeth. “When did you add him?”
“Before you showed up.”
Of course you did. His fingers tightened around her waist. Her blouse was thin, her waist was small, and his hand fit perfectly around it. He didn’t want to let go.
“Why won’t you delete him?”
“He’s my
friend. And he’s my neighbor.”
Looking at how stubborn she was being, Dorian really wanted to grab her phone and block Vincent himself.
But fine. She was going back to the villa with him. He could hold her in bed later. That took the edge off.
Lucien was waiting outside with the car. The moment he saw them coming, he jumped out to open the door.
Dorian guided her into the backseat, then paused, turned, and looked toward the restaurant entrance. Sure enough, Vincent was standing there, watching Arden through the car window.
Arden saw him too. She lowered the window and waved. “Bye, Vincent. Thank you.”
Dorian glared. Vincent smiled softly, still watching her, and waved back. Dorian glanced down at Arden leaning out the window. His face darkened even more.
He circled to the other side of the car and got in, slamming the door hard enough to shake the whole frame.
Arden flinched and turned to look at him. He’d gone right back to that cold, cutting version of
himself.

Yep. Rich, hot guys always have the worst moods. And the worst part? I haven’t even done anything.
She quickly scooted closer to the car door. Dorian saw her move away, and his expression turned even worse.
“What are you doing? Avoiding me?”
She couldn’t exactly say yes. Her voice came out small. “…No.”
“Then why’re you sitting all the way over there? You think I’m some kind of monster?”
You kinda are. She thought it. But didn’t dare say it.
Instead, she looked up with wide eyes and said, “You’re a person.”
Dorian was speechless. Lucien, up front, was trying very hard not to laugh. Back at Silverbay Villa, Martha rushed to the door the moment she saw them.
When she saw Arden with him, the tension in her face melted. She’d really missed the girl these past few days.
“Miss, I made some supplements for you. Want me to bring it out now?”
Arden nodded. “Yes, please. Thank you, Martha.”
Martha turned to Dorian. “And for you,
“Ice water.”
sir?”
She nodded and headed to the kitchen. Arden finally relaxed. She kicked off her shoes and stretched out on the couch, looking for the comfiest spot to sink into.
She pulled out her phone to text Caleb. Dorian noticed.
He squinted, watching her for a second.
Arden felt the stare, looked up, and locked eyes with him. “…Don’t you have a video call or something?”
