Chapter 69 Ask Me First
Arden figured she had nothing better to do, so she agreed to help out.

But once she helped one person, it snowballed–more and more people started asking her to run errands or handle tasks for them.
Three days later, Sienna returned to the office, visibly exhausted from travel.
She had just stepped into the hallway when she saw Arden walking out, arms full of thick documents–so tall they nearly covered her face.
When Arden spotted someone in front of her, she tilted her head and smiled. “Hey, you’re back!”
Sienna still looked as flawless as ever. She raised an eyebrow. “What are you doing with all that?”
“Oh, just making some copies.”
“I didn’t assign you
that.”
“It’s for other project teams.”
Sienna’s expression shifted immediately. “Which teams?”
Arden could tell she was serious. “Bonnie’s group and Alina’s.”
“Bring the documents. Come with me.”
Sienna dropped her suitcase off at her desk and strode straight over to Bonnie. She crossed her arms and said, “You got Arden running errands for you now?”
Bonnie leaned back in her chair, raising a brow. “She was just sitting around. Who else should I ask?”
Sienna turned to Arden. “Which ones are hers?”
Arden quickly pulled out the top batch. “These.”
Sienna took the documents and smacked them down on Bonnie’s desk. “You don’t have people on your own team? Why are you ordering mine around?”
Bonnie was clearly annoyed. “It’s just copying. What’s the big deal?”
“The big deal is that you didn’t ask me,” Sienna snapped. “Arden works under me. You want her help, go through me. Got it?”

Sienna was famously sharp, and when she got pissed, she was intimidating as hell. She handled major projects and had earned a reputation. Even Warren let her temper slide most of the time. No one dared cross her.
Bonnie had no choice but to swallow her pride.
Sienna marched over to Alina’s team and slammed the documents on their desk too. She made it crystal clear–Arden was hers, not free labor for the whole company.
At that moment, Arden feels something shift. Sienna’s standing up for her, protecting her, taking her side. After everything was said and done, Sienna turned and saw Arden’s wide,
glowing eyes.
“Come with me.” Sienna grabbed her mug and walked off. Arden followed her in.
As she bent over to fill her cup, Sienna said calmly, “Remember, you work under me. You don’t have to say yes to everyone.”
“Got it,” Arden said quickly. “Thanks.”
Sienna glanced at her but didn’t say anything more.
Truth was, she’d been burned like this before. When she first joined, she tried to help everyone -small tasks, spreadsheets, whatever. And when things went wrong, she took the fall. The workplace can be brutal.
Arden asked softly, “Was the trip exhausting?”
“It was fine. Let’s go. Just remember, sometimes you’ve got to learn how to say no.”
Back at their desks, Sienna finally assigned Arden some proper tasks. But before she could get into it, Warren stormed out of his office with a sour face.
“Bonnie! What the hell is this? You messed up a basic budget item in the game proposal!”
Bonnie blinked. “What?”
He slammed the document down. “There’s an extra zero on this line. You just inflated the budget tenfold! What are you doing–offering to fund the whole company yourself?!”
She looked at the page, stunned. “I asked Arden to check that data.”
Arden froze. She rushed over. “Yeah, I checked it. But I told you to double–check it afterward.”
This was her first real mistake. Her heart was pounding.

Bonnie suddenly remembered. Arden had asked her to review the file again, but she’d been on the phone, distracted, and tossed the document straight into the submission tray without looking.
But instead of owning it, she said coldly, “If I asked you to check it, you should’ve checked it right. Triple–checked it! How could you miss something so big?”
Sienna stood up. “That was your project. Arden was doing you a favor. She even told you to go over it again. You can’t just dump this on her.”
Talia added, “Exactly. She was helping out. And you throw her under the bus?”
Clark clicked his tongue. “She’s a newbie. You should’ve double–checked anything going to finance or Mr. Vale. You didn’t?”
Warren rubbed his temples. “You guys know how strict Dorian is. He was the one who caught the error. If he hadn’t… do you know how much money we’d be losing? A hundred million. You think anyone here could cover that?”
The room went dead silent. “He’s furious. You two, take the proposal and explain it to him yourselves.”
Bonnie shot Arden a nasty glare. Arden lowered her head, panicking. This is bad. Really bad. She’s only been here a few days, and now she already has to face him.
Just thinking about Dorian’s sharp, cold face made her shiver. Talia reached over and squeezed her hand.
