Isla had scored two invitations to the auction. And since she hadn’t seen Arden much lately, she went all in–sent her a designer gown tailored to her size and booked her own glam team to make Arden pop.
The next morning, Arden went to work like usual. The day passed quietly, except for one annoying thing–Bonnie was clearly still pissed about that project data issue.
She threw daggers at Arden every time they crossed paths. But Arden didn’t let it get to her.
When the day ended, Isla rolled up to the Vale Group tower in her flashy red convertible, parked just outside the entrance like she owned the block.
She had on a cropped black tank and cargo pants, sunglasses in place, looking every bit the bossy, fashion–forward bad girl. The kind you don’t mess with.
Also? Her car was a limited edition and cost over a million bucks. Yeah. Not your average friend.
Arden had told Dorian she didn’t want to ride with him anymore, so she left with the crowd, stepping into the elevator with Talia, Clark, Bonnie, and Alina.
As soon as she stepped out of the building, Isla waved dramatically, her voice carrying, “Arden, over here!”
All heads turned. Between the car, the outfit, and that energy? She was impossible to ignore.
Even Clark and Talia followed Arden’s gaze in curiosity. Arden waved back. “Isla!”
Then turned to the group, smiling politely. “My ride’s here. I’ll see you guys tomorrow, Talia, Clark.”
Clark kept staring at Isla, something sparking behind his eyes.
Arden jogged over. Isla pulled her into a hug. “You could’ve let me send a driver. No need to show up like royalty.”
“I missed you, okay? I didn’t think your new job would eat up all your time. I’ve barely seen you since you started.”
Isla had been in fashion abroad for years. Always ahead of the curve, always stylish.
She eyed Arden’s office–appropriate outfit with a click of her tongue. “Girl, seriously? You’ve got that kind of body and you’re hiding it under a blazer?”
“I’m dressing for comfort. And I don’t want attention at work.”

“You’re gonna be the most stunning woman in the room tonight,” Isla declared. “Use it. Charm a few guys. Dorian is a wild card, babe. If he doesn’t treat you right, screw it. Enjoy yourself.”
Arden smiled. “Okay.”
Looking at her reflection, even she was a little impressed. She looked… incredible.
