Cassian said, “Arden’s social feed. She posted a new pic with topic. Guess she’s reborn now that she left you.”
Dorian zoomed in on the image. It was taken from her balcony, no curtains, nothing blocked. You could see most of the living room.
The space was clean, warm, and tastefully done. Cozy lighting, soft colors, and right there on the coffee table a vase of lilies, still fresh and dewy.
–
He glanced at the coffee table in front of him. The lilies Arden had bought weeks ago had withered and browned. The contrast was sharp.
Theo jumped in. “So what if Dorian’s defending that Lacey girl?” Theo asked. “She doesn’t seem to care. Dorian–ever consider maybe Arden just never liked you?”
“You think these past few years were her dying devotion?” Theo said. “Nah. Sounds more like you’ve been living in your own rom–com.”
“Exactly,” Cassian jumped in. “I’ve had women throw fits over less. If I spend big on one girl–bags, jewelry, whatever the others always come clawing. Arden? Nothing.”
“I don’t think she ever took you seriously,” Damon added. “My sister said she’s planning to divorce you.”
“If I were her, I’d leave too,” Cassian said.
“Serves you right,” Theo muttered.
“Yeah,” Damon said. “You had it coming.”
“Totally deserved,” Cassian echoed.
Dorian stared at the screen. “All of you,” he said coldly, “shut the fuck up.”
He rubbed his temples, then tossed the phone onto the couch and went upstairs to shower.
That night, Arden slept like a baby. Dorian didn’t sleep a wink. Ever since she left, his sleep had gone back to what it used to be broken and shallow.

Arden woke up early, took her time getting ready, and brought the chicken soup to the office. She left it on Sienna’s desk.
Sienna showed up just as work started. Arden texted, “Morning. I brought you some porridge my mom made. It’s good for your stomach.”
Sienna glanced at her. Arden smiled warmly. Sienna smiled back. Sienna texted, “Thanks.”
She opened the thermos. The chicken soup was still warm. For a moment, something in her heart shifted.
She hadn’t tasted food made with care in years. Her parents only cared about her younger brother, left her to fend for herself since college. She worked three jobs just to afford tuition. She hadn’t had the luxury of comfort only cold takeout meals.

But today, she got homemade chicken soup. She drank every last bite. It was warm and comforting
Right before work officially began, Sienna turned to Arden. “Come with me. We’re going to see Mr. Vale.
“What? Why?”
“It’s about the auto project. Technically, you’re not senior enough to sit in, but I’m getting permission so yo can observe. You’ll learn a lot.”
“Oh… okay”
They went up to the 28th floor. Lucien was already waiting by the door. He did a double take when he saw Arden. She looked… brighter and more energetic. Meanwhile, his boss looked like he hadn’t slept at all.
nna nodded politely, “Morning, Lucien. I brought Arden to discuss the electric vehicle project with Mr.
den kept her tone neutral. “Good morning, Lucien.”
Lucien nodded back, then knocked on the office door. “Come in.”
They walked inside. It was Arden’s second time in Dorian’s office.
He sat behind the desk, suit immaculate, tie perfect, the kind of man who looked like he’d built empires with his bare hands.
He didn’t look up. Just kept signing documents with a black pen between elegant fingers.
Sienna stepped forward. “Good morning, Mr. Vale. I’m Sienna from the planning department.” She shot Arden a look. Arden froze. Sienna nudged her lightly. “Greet him.”
Arden had no choice. “Good morning, Mr. Vale. I’m Arden, also from the planning department.”
At the sound of her voice, Dorian finally looked up. She stood behind Sienna, long lashes lowered, wearing a soft beige dress. Her skin practically glowed. She looked… peaceful.
He put the pen down. Couldn’t stop looking at her. Maybe this was the only way he’d get to see her now through work.
She looked too good. Too happy. It made him question if she ever liked him at all.
His voice came low and deep. “What is it?”
Sienna spoke. “The EV dis
