Chapter 9
Grayson’s POV
I haven’t seen Ava since that night.
Mom called a few days ago. Said Ava’s getting married.
I hung up. Stood there for a while. Didn’t know what to feel
Turns out I still wasn’t over her.
I missed her.
But I had no right to say it.
I’d been surviving on memories. That’s all I had left.
Mom went to the wedding. Sent me a video.
Ava looked so happy. The groom was that guy who drove her home back then.
My eyes dropped. Her dress curved slightly over her stomach.
My chest tightened.
She was pregnant.
I suddenly remembered-she used to always remind me to be careful Not to knock her up.
I always told her not to worry.
Once we got into a fight. Over something stupid.
I said we should break up. Just to hurt her.
She freaked out. Started crying, begging me not to leave.
That night, we made up in bed.
Halfway through, she said, “Maybe we should have a baby. Then you wouldn’t leave.”
I froze.
I’d never thought that far ahead.
So I brushed it off. “We’re not even married yet. Why are you thinking about that?”
Her eyes lit up. “So let’s just get married then.”
I didn’t know what to say. So I dodged it.
Chapter 9
The disappointment in her eyes was so obvious.
I just chose to ignore it.
And now, she was finally wearing a wedding dress.
She looked beautiful.
I stared at the screen for a long time.
My mind drifted back to a college reunion years ago. We played truth or dare. I lost. Got dared to propose to someone in the room.
I picked Ava.
