Chapter 164

Third Person’s POV
“Yesterday, after the pack police dragged you away, your father and I tried desperately to get you out! But the precinct’s attitude
was as hard as stone.”
Lillian’s voice trembled uncontrollably, her face completely drained of color. “We called Mortimer countless times, but that damn Alpha completely ignored us! I was going crazy with anger, and was so terrified you were suffering in a holding cell. So, when I saw that goddamn dog just standing there, L..”
Lillian completely broke down, spilling every single detail of what she had done the night before to Vivian without holding anything back.
“I swear to the Moon Goddess, I had absolutely no idea it was that bitch Seraphina’s mutt! And I definitely didn’t expect some nosy, pathetic idiot to post the dashcam video online!”
“What do we do, Vivian? Is Mortimer going to come after me for Seraphina’s sake? He’ll destroy me!”
The more Lillian thought about it, the more terrified she became. She collapsed onto the sofa, burying her face in her hands as she let out a desperate, muffled sob.
“A stray dog? Seraphina’s pet?”
Vivian had spent an entire night locked in a freezing, narrow holding cell. She had just taken a scalding hot shower and walked downstairs, her exquisitely delicate face clouded with gloom.
She hadn’t even had the chance to check social media yet today.
Hearing Lillian’s hysterical rant, she frowned impatiently. Her high heels clicked sharply against the floor as she walked over. What does any of this have to do with Mortimer?”
Lillian handed her the iPad with trembling hands. “See for yourself! By the Moon Goddess, it’s going viral all over the internet!”
Vivian let out a cold sneer and snatched the device.
However, her eyes hadn’t even been on the screen for thirty seconds before her perfectly made-up face violently twisted with extreme, toxic jealousy. Her expression contorted until she looked as hideous as a demon crawling out of hell!
“Hah! Her buddy? Mortimer actually authorized the Craig Corporation’s official account to call Seraphina’s dirty mutt his buddy?
Vivian shrieked, her perfectly manicured acrylic nails digging into the iPad case so hard they almost shattered the plastic.
“Is Mortimer completely insane? Is he publicly announcing that Seraphina is his unshakable Luna? How dare he trample all over my dignity like this! That Luna position was supposed to belong to me!” 1
Sitting on the opposite sofa, Connor slowly lifted his heavy eyelids, shooting a freezing, detached glare at his near-psychotic daughter.
It was horrifyingly clear: in Vivian’s eyes, anything that didn’t directly involve Mortimer or her own status was completely irrelevant.
Even with her own mother sitting right in front of her, violently shaking in fear of lethal Alpha retribution, Vivian’s focus was entirely, obsessively stuck on the absurd title of “buddy.”
Connor’s gaze turned completely dead, as if coated in a layer of absolute frost. 1
He reprimanded her in a heavy, booming voice, “So what if he did? Seraphina is Mortimer’s legally mate under the witness of the Moon Goddess! Even if he didn’t publicly announce it, that title still wouldn’t fall to you! What exactly is screaming like a lunatic going to change?”

Vivian was momentarily stunned by her father’s sudden roar.
But a second later, a wave of intense, almost tangible hatred exploded in her eyes,
She shrieked back defensively, “Dad! Whose side are you even on? If I hadn’t been studying abroad five years ago, leaving a gap for that manipulative bitch Seraphina to steal my opportunity, how could the Luna position ever belong to her? She is nothing but a shameless thief!”
Looking at Vivian’s pathological, delusional paranoia, Connor’s eyes filled with pure disappointment and disgust.
He didn’t even want to waste another breath arguing with her. He simply stood up and dropped a single, ruthlessly objective truth. “Drop your pathetic delusions. If Mortimer truly wanted to be with you, even if you were stranded in the Northern Tundra, he would have mobilized the entire pack to bring you back.”
“Dad!” Vivian’s voice cracked, turning impossibly shrill.
Connor let out a heavy snort of disgust and forcefully crushed his cigarette butt into the crystal ashtray.
He straightened his suit jacket. “Mortimer’s wrath is far beyond my capability to handle. You two had better pray to the Moon Goddess that the bloodthirsty beast hasn’t tracked that video back to our doorstep yet.”
Dropping that cold, brutal warning, Connor turned on his heel and strode out of the mansion without looking back.
“Oh, honey! Connor! You can’t just leave me here alone!” Seeing her husband completely wash his hands of the situation, Lillian stomped her feet in a panic, fresh tears rapidly streaming down her face.
Completely drained of strength, she slumped back onto the sofa. The depths of her eyes were filled with the suffocating terror of impending death.
