Chapter 175

Third Person’s POV

+15 Bonus

“Mortimer, during that half-month you were out traveling with Vivian, Sera almost died out there. If you had paid even a fraction of attention to her, if you had just checked her status through the mating bond, or even bothered to glance at the news from Alaska, you would have known exactly what she went through.”

“But all your attention was entirely consumed by your precious Vivi! You didn’t know that the avalanche left her with severe PTSD. You didn’t know she was waking up in cold sweats from nightmares every single night. You had no idea she’s been seeing a therapist and swallowing anti-anxiety meds just to suppress her traumatized, terrified wolf!”

“Now that she has Dash, she finally started to heal just a little bit. And what do you do? You drag her right back into hell! Mortimer, come on!”

Trista’s anger violently surged again, her jaw locked tight as she spat the curses through gritted teeth.

Mortimer’s face was terrifyingly pale.

Avalanche… PTSD… almost died… These words morphed into countless, razor-sharp shards of ice, violently plunging into his veins and flash-freezing his blood.

He was finished.

He was going to completely lose his mate.

It wasn’t just the crushing despair of reality destroying him; an apocalyptic storm was currently raging inside Mortimer’s mind.

“You blind coward! What have you done?”

Barton, his usually majestic and composed Alpha wolf, let out an agonizing, guttural roar from the absolute depths of his soul. A wolf’s instincts are far purer than a human’s. Barton could clearly and painfully feel through the severed ends of their bond that Seraphina’s wolf, Lily, was actively withering away, violently rejecting their presence.

“Your arrogant pride almost killed our mate! When she needed her Alpha the most, when she was dying and terrified and needed to be soothed, you were accompanying another woman! You betrayed the Moon Goddess’s gift!”

Barton’s voice carried an unprecedented level of resentment and despair.

The massive beast began frantically slamming against Mortimer’s mental barriers. The intense, internal agony almost made Mortimer collapse right there in the hallway.

The wolf’s pure hatred materialized into physical punishment, churning violently in his blood and bone marrow.

Mortimer hunched over, clutching his chest. A massive wave of guilt and agony gripped his throat like a giant, invisible hand, suffocating him.

During that half-month… why did he stubbornly fight a cold war with her over some ridiculous, fragile pride?
