Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 182

Chapter 182

Third Person’s POV

“Cancel it. Find someone else,” Mortimer said coldly. His voice was so icy and absolute it made you want to shiver.

Tade didn’t say another word.

The Craig Corporation had been propping up the Davis family for years; the contracts were basically just a formality anyway.

To avoid putting too much pressure on Everreach Building Materials, they’d even set the penalty for breaking the contract ridiculously low.

After all, nobody ever thought the Craig Corporation would be the ones breaking it.

Heh. Thinking about how the Davis family had definitely already ordered all the raw materials-and how they were about to be stuck with the bill because of this canceled contract-made Tade incredibly happy.

Schadenfreude suddenly felt like a perfectly positive word. “Dare to mess with Dash? You get what you deserve.” 1

Still, out of his sense of duty as his beta, Tade felt the need to point out the obvious.

“Alpha Mortimer, that means the Craig Corporation is going to have to eat the penalty f*e.”

Mortimer looked up, shooting Tade a freezing glare. The suffocating pressure of a top-tier Alpha completely flooded the room, making the air feel thin. “Can we not afford it?”

We definitely can!

“Right away. I’ll have the Project Department lock down a new partner immediately.” With that, Tade practically jogged out of the office, his steps noticeably lighter.

The second he was out of the CEO’s office, Tade rushed over to Yolanda. “Tell Finance to freeze that payment to Everreach. Alpha Mortimer is breaking the contract.”

Yolanda was speechless.

“Alpha Mortimer just broke a contract. Why are you so happy about it?” she wondered.

Meanwhile, in the Davis family’s living room.

Lillian and Vivian were currently hosting an afternoon tea for a few wealthy socialites.

Ever since Mortimer had supposedly stepped in to scrub the internet of Lillian’s scandal, the mother-daughter duo had been on cloud nine, practically floating with smugness.

The living room was overflowing with the latest designer bags. Lillian held a delicate porcelain teacup, beaming with pride, making absolutely sure everyone got a good look at the giant diamond ring she’d just bought.

Vivian lounged elegantly on the sofa, her chin tilted up slightly, her eyes flashing with unconcealed arrogance.

The socialites they hung out with were mostly there to suck up to them, hoping to use the Davises as a stepping stone to get in with the Craig Corporation and grab a slice of the pie.

Naturally, they only said exactly what Lillian and Vivian wanted to hear.

“Honestly, Lillian, I still say Vivian and Mortimer are the perfect match. That doctor can’t even compare to Vivi. A regular doctor isn’t even qualified to be marked.”

“Exactly! I heard ages ago that Mortimer spoils Vivian rotten. He personally takes care of everything that involves her. If that isn’t love, what is? All those rumors out there are just pure jealousy!”

“Everyone knows Mortimer is a busy man who doesn’t waste a single minute of his time, but he always makes time to handle Viviani’s affairs himself. Doesn’t that prove she’s the most important person in his heart? Who else could possibly be the future Luna of the Cralg family?

“You have nothing to worry about, Lillian. Sooner or later, Mortimer is going to break that mating bond with that doctor and marry Vivian.”

Lillian was absolutely thrilled, giggling behind her hand. “Oh, stop it, you guys are praising her too much! Mortimer just feels bad for our Vivi because of her weak health. But then again, the seat of the future Luna isn’t exactly meant for someone with low -class blood.”

Vivian smiled faintly, a flash of smug malice in her eyes as she chimed in, “Mortimer told me that bond is nothing but a worthless piece of paper. He told me not to even worry about it.”

With everyone hyping them up, Lillian and Vivian let the flattery go straight to their heads, their smugness becoming more brazen by the second.

Connor walked in right in the middle of this.

His already gloomy face instantly turned even uglier.

“Honey, you’re back? We just got some new tea, want to try some?” Lillian walked over to greet him, practically beaming.

“Try some? Is this all you do all day long?! Can you do something productive for once? All you do is sit around and spend money. What good are you?!”

Connor was shaking with rage.
