Third Person’s POV

Beautiful as a painting. For the first time in her life, Seraphina actually felt like that phrase applied to her own reflection.
She finally understood what Wilda meant when she complimented her once. “You’re so gorgeous. If you ever actually dress up, you’ll be stunned by your own beauty.”
Good. Now she got it.
She really was stunned by the girl in the mirror. The stylist’s uncontrollable gasp echoed in her ear again, “Luna Seraphina, you look absolutely breathtaking.”
Just then, the doorbell rang.
The stylist ran over to open it. “Mr. Craig, you’re here.”
Mortimer walked in. An unsuppressed, heavy Alpha aura instantly spread across the room.
Like a proud artist showing off her masterpiece, the stylist smiled at Mortimer. “Sir, you never bring Luna Seraphina out to public events. Are you just too possessive to let anyone else see how beautiful she is?”
Hearing that, Mortimer’s expression went a bit stiff.
Only he knew the real reason he never let Seraphina appear in public: they had a secret mating, and he simply hadn’t wanted the extra hassle back then.
Feeling incredibly awkward, he shifted his gaze to Seraphina-and completely froze.
This was his first time seeing her like this, too.
He was used to seeing her bare-faced. But with her fair skin and delicate features, she was always strikingly pretty even without a drop of makeup.
But in this exact moment, Mortimer finally understood why some people couldn’t look away from a beautiful woman–why they’d be willing to do absolutely anything for one.
His wife… was drop-dead gorgeous.
Being stared at like that made Seraphina a little uncomfortable.
She deliberately made a small noise to snap him out of his daze.

Totally oblivious to the fact that the two were about to sever their mating bond, the stylist kept showering them with compliments. She practically threw every fancy word she knew at them, wrapping it up with a dramatic summary.
“You two are just the perfect match! When you walk into that gala tonight, it’ll be like a scene straight out of a movie. No, wait, even movie stars couldn’t compete with you two.”
Seraphina felt super awkward. She really wanted to interrupt but figured it would be rude.
Mortimer, on the other hand, loved every word of it. His mouth curled up into an uncontrollable smile.
Once the stylist left, it was just the two of them in the living room, aside from Dash playing happily on the floor.
Without a buffer, Mortimer suddenly felt incredibly awkward facing Seraphina alone.
He rubbed his hands together subconsciously, only to realize his palms were completely slick with cold sweat.
“It’s about time. Let’s go.” As he spoke, he naturally scooped Dash up into his arms. “We’re bringing Dash, too.”

“Can we do that?” Seraphina asked. “What if someone doesn’t like dogs? Will it offend the guests?” 1
Even though she wanted to keep Dash with her all the time, she wasn’t clueless about social settings.
The Craig Corporation’s 80th-anniversary gala was a massive deal. Tade had specifically mentioned that VIPS from politics and business would be there. If bringing Dash somehow ruined the night, she was terrified it might complicate breaking their contract later.
“No. Tonight is our territory. And it’s Dash’s territory, too.”
Seraphina quietly slipped her hand into her clutch, hit the record button on her phone, and asked again, “Are you absolutely sure bringing him won’t cause any problems?”
Mortimer’s gaze discreetly landed on her hand inside the bag. With his sharp werewolf irtstincts, he instantly knew exactly what she was doing. A bitter, self-deprecating smile flashed through his eyes.
Would
She was guarding against him. Was she really that worried a screw-up tonight would delay her from severing their bond?
“It won’t be a problem. But if anything does go wrong, it’s 100% on me. It has absolutely nothing to do with you, okay?” He leaned down a bit to meet her eyes, moving closer to her bag-almost as if he was trying to make sure the microphone picked up his voice loud and clear.
“Okay.” Seraphina nodded, feeling relieved. Her smile looked a little more genuine now.
She had originally planned to ask Trista to babysit, but since Mortimer insisted, she didn’t have to bother her friend.
Seeing the bright, easy smile in her eyes, Mortimer honestly didn’t know whether to be happy or miserable.
The Craig Corporation’s grand anniversary gala was held in their own massive banquet hall.
All the core members of the Blades were in attendance.
