Chapter 187
Third Person’s PQV
At those words, the gathered media swarmed forward.
Cameras were hoisted high, flashes popping relentlessly at the still-closed car doors.
Just then, the door swung open.
“Alpha Mortimer-”
But when they got a clear look at who was stepping out, the crowd’s high-pitched excitement died down for a few seconds.
It wasn’t Mortimer and his wife; it was the Davis family.
Calming down, the reporters finally noticed that the Bentley’s license plate didn’t belong to Mortimer’s usual ride.
Vivian stepped out of the car, practically swimming in a heavy, elaborate evening gown.
“Hello, everyone.” Vivian waved at the reporters with a brilliant, practiced smile.
They recognized her quickly-wasn’t this the Davis family’s precious daughter? The one who, not too long ago, tacitly played along when people assumed she was Mortimer’s wife?
The reporters exchanged glances, a spark of gossip-hungry curiosity lighting up their eyes.
They couldn’t help but wonder if anything juicy would go down when Luna Seraphina finally showed up.
Still, the media gave Vivian enough face, snapping quite a few photos of her.
After all, the Davis family were officially invited guests of the Craig Corporation tonight, so it wouldn’t be a good look to completely freeze them out.
Suddenly, a reporter called out, “Miss Davis, you usually attend the Craig Corporation’s year-end galas with Alpha Mortimer. Why aren’t you walking the carpet with him tonight?”
It was hard to tell if the reporter was stirring the pot on purpose or just lacked tact, but the question hung heavily in the air.
The smile on Vivian’s lips instantly froze, a flash of pure irritation crossing her eyes.
She shot the reporter a cold look before effortlessly breaking back into a sweet smile. “Mortimer is busy with some other things, so he had me come over first. We agreed to meet at the entrance and head in together.”
Her words were deliberately vague, leaving plenty of room for imagination.
“Alpha Mortimer and Miss Davis are as close as ever, I see,” someone commented.
“Oh, no, Mortimer just dotes on me like a younger sister, that’s all,” she replied coyly.
Thanks to her suggestive little remarks, many reporters didn’t dare to slight her, even throwing some polite flattery her way
Not long after, another Bentley slowly pulled up to the curb.
“Alpha Mortimer is here.”
Hearing that, Vivian’s eyes lit up. She looked eagerly toward the driveway.
Sure enough, Mortimer’s Bentley-sporting its exclusive license plate-slowly approached the venue.
“Mortimer is here.” Vivian lifted her heavy skirts and hurried toward the car,
The door opened.

Along leg clad in meticulously tailored suit pants stepped out.
Immediately after, Mortimer’s tall, imposing figure entered the reporters’ sights and camera frames.
He gave the press a slight nod, his sharp, commanding aura as strong as ever.
“Mortimer,” Vivian called out softly, rushing forward. She instinctively reached out to grab his armi.
But a second later, he frowned and smoothly dodged her grasp.
“What is Vivian doing here?”
A flash of annoyance crossed Mortimer’s eyes.
Mindful of the setting, he didn’t say anything to her. Instead, after dodging her hand, he walked around to the other side of the car and opened the passenger door.
He leaned down and offered his hand. The intimidating, icy aura he had just a moment ago instantly softened as he spoke to the person inside.
“Don’t be nervous. Just follow my lead,” Mortimer said gently to Seraphina.
Seraphina wasn’t actually nervous; she was just a bit uncomfortable facing this kind of crowd for the first time.
She had never attended any of the Craig Corporation’s year-end galas before.
If Mortimer didn’t ask her to go, she would never bring it up herself.
But this 80th-anniversary gala was massive and carried a lot of weight, which meant dealing with even more people.
Still, she reminded herself that this was the very last time she had to play this role before breaking the mating bond. She told herself to just act natural. Once she got through tonight, she would be in the clear.
