Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 188

Chapter 188

Third Person’s POV

Seraphina stiffened at Mortimer’s intimate gesture. But with all the reporters flashing their cameras at them, she forced herself to endure it just to maintain the Blades dignity.

Mortimer guided Seraphina down the red carpet toward the banquet hall, completely ignoring Vivian.

Vivian’s face was hidden in the shadows, her eyes locked dead on Seraphina.

If looks could kill, Seraphina would have been ripped to shreds by now.

Mortimer had one arm securely around Seraphina and was carrying Dash with the other.

To outsiders, this looked like a heartwarming picture of a happy family. But to Vivian, it felt like a silent, deliberate provocation.

Seeing Mortimer treat her like she was completely invisible-making her look like a massive joke-she gritted her teeth and recklessly threw herself right into his path.

“Mortimer, why are you so late? I’ve been waiting for you forever,” she whined right in front of Seraphina, her tone sickeningly sweet and inappropriately intimate.

Then, she turned to Seraphina with a look that practically wanted to eat her alive. “Seraphina, what are you doing here today? Honestly, Mortimer is too much, not even giving me a heads-up!”

She spoke as if she were the Luna. Everyone present was absolutely dumbfounded.

She really had zero shame.

Mortimer had actually been in a pretty good mood since Seraphina agreed to come, but Vivian just had to jump out and stir up trouble.

The smile vanished from his lips. He shot Vivian a sharp, icy glare

Just as he was about to speak, Seraphina suddenly glanced at him. With a faint smile, she asked, “What’s this? Is Miss Davis in charge of the Craig Corporation’s gala? Did she forget to save me a seat?”

Mortimer swallowed the words he was about to say.

Vivian didn’t expect Seraphina to snap back at her so publicly. She froze, her expression turning stiff.

“You are the one and only Luna of the Blades and Mrs. Craig. Even if we ran out of seats for everyone else, we would never run out of room for you,” Mortimer replied with a warm smile, looking right at Seraphina.

When he turned back to Vivian, the tenderness in his eyes instantly froze over, leaving nothing but a cold, hard warning.

“Let’s head inside. The guests are waiting for us.”

Seeing Mortimer about to walk away with her, Vivian’s jealousy completely crushed her sanity.

She glared at Seraphina’s breathtakingly beautiful face, digging her fingernails into her own palms.

Why?! Who gave this woman the right to steal everything that belonged to her?

Just as Seraphina was about to walk past her, a vicious glint flashed in Vivian’s eyes. She suddenly grabbed her skirt, lunged forward, and deliberately slammed her body hard into Seraphina, trying to shove her away from Mortimer.

“Ah!”

Wearing high heels, Seraphina staggered from the sudden impact and almost tripped.

But before Vivian could succeed, Mortimer’s werewolf reflexes kicked in.

His pupils shrank. He shot his long arm out, catching Seraphina securely and pulling her tightly against his chest to protect her.

At the exact same time, his face turned as dark as a looming thunderstorm. Without a single ounce of pity, he used his free hand to shove Vivian away with pure disgust

“Stay away from her,” Mortimer said. His voice was freezing cold, carrying the faint, menacing growl of a dominant Alpha.

Vivian stumbled backward several steps from the shove.

Seeing all the camera lenses pointed straight at her, she panicked. Her eyes darted around, and she decided to go limp, letting herself fall toward the ground with a dramatic, fragile gasp, hoping Mortimer would instinctively reach out to catch her.

But Mortimer didn’t even spare her a glance. He just kept leading Seraphina straight ahead.

The embrace Vivian expected never came. Instead, a male reporter standing nearby couldn’t stand watching the ridiculous act anymore. He reached out and grabbed her arm, saving her from falling flat on her face.

Vivian clumsily regained her balance. Feeling completely humiliated, her anger instantly flared toward the reporter.

She slapped his hand away and shrieked, “Get your dirty hands off me! Who told you to touch me?! Back off!”

Cursed out for no reason, the reporter rolled his eyes.

He scoffed right in her face and mocked her loudly, “Wow, Miss Davis, who are you trying to impress? The actual wife is standing right there, and you, a total outsider, are over here shoving and pushing, and then faking a faint to play the victim? Who do you think you are to the Craig family? If I hadn’t caught you, you’d be looking even more pathetic right now. Talk about ungrateful.”
