Chapter 208
Third Person’s POV
“Alright, good work,” Tade patted Vincent’s shoulder, gesturing for him to step out first
When the hospital room door closed again, Tade held the old phone, casting a complicated look at Murtimer, who lay deathly pale on the bed.
After Vincent left, Tade handed the old phone, its casing covered in several dented spots, over to Mortimer.
Mortimer took it and immediately logged into his messaging app, opening the chat window with Seraphina.
What met his eyes were a few cold, concise replies from Seraphina, forming a sharp contrast with his own long string of recent
messages.
Perhaps because he already had a terrible suspicion in his heart, his finger. trembled slightly as he scrolled up.
Finally, he scrolled to that day-the day Seraphina was buried under the snow.
“There was an avalanche. I’m buried under the snow.”
“Seraphina, if you’re trying to trick me into coming back, you shouldn’t tell such an obvious lie. I’m staying with Vivian for a few more days. Come back yourself when you’ve had enough fun.”
Mortimer’s pupils dilated little by little. He stared unblinkingly at that cruel, cold-blooded message.
Aside from this text, there were several missed video calls right above it. They looked like bloody whip lashes, stinging him so hard he could barely breathe.
In an instant, Mortimer’s wolf, Barton, felt as if he were being torn apart alive. A desperate, frenzied howl of grief and roaring erupted from the absolute depths of his soul.
Accompanying Barton’s berserk state, a terrifying Alpha aura exploded outward.
This aura was mixed with violent hostility, a thirst for blood, and a despair on the verge of total collapse.
Beside him, Tade’s face instantly turned ashen. Caught completely off guard by the crushing rank suppression, his legs gave out, and he nearly dropped straight to his knees.
He felt as if a thousand-pound boulder had smashed brutally into his chest. Cold sweat poured down his forehead.
He looked at Mortimer in pure shock. His eyes had been completely overtaken by crimson wolf pupils in that split second. His fingertips dug uncontrollably and viciously into the cracked phone case, his knuckles trembling violently.
Mortimer’s hands shook terribly, his mind a complete, chaotic mess.
Every ounce of color drained from his face. His usually profound, cold eyes were soaked with tears and crimson. The next second, massive teardrops finally smashed down.
“She was begging me to save her…”
His voice shook uncontrollably, tears falling drop by drop. “She was dying… and she was begging me to save her…”
His lips quivered as he repeated this phrase like a form of self-torture.
Barton battered wildly against his mental walls, threatening to shred whatever was left of his sanity to pieces.
Tade braced himself against the wall, struggling under the horrifying aura that was nearly crushing him.
This was the first time he had ever seen their high-and-mighty Alpha lose control of his emotions like this.

He had originally wanted to say something sarcastic to lighten the mood, but opening his mouth dryly, he found himself utterly silenced by the suffocating, desolate grief pressing down on the room.
“Alpha…” Tade wanted to offer some comfort but couldn’t find the right words.
His gaze discreetly flicked toward the trembling phone. Good lord! Did Alpha actually send that message??? My God!!!
No, that couldn’t be it.
Otherwise, Alpha Mortimer wouldn’t have specifically asked him to dig up this broken phone to get it fixed and have tech restore the communication records.
So… Vivian was the one who replied to this message? 1
She intercepted Seraphina’s cry for help back then?
No wonder Seraphina had treated Mortimer like a walking corpse ever since returning from Alaska.
No normal person would keep clinging to someone after receiving a message that essentially told them to drop dead.
Suddenly, I feel pretty bad for Mortimer. 1
But honestly, he brought this on himself. Who told him to hand his phone over to Vivian in the first place? If he hadn’t, none of this would have happened.
Following Mortimer’s profound grief and despair, the violent Alpha aura reached its peak before suddenly retreating like a receding tide, morphing into a near-deathly weakness.
Mortimer knew he was completely finished.
Maybe he could go tell Seraphina that he wasn’t the one who declined those video calls, and he wasn’t the one who sent that
message.
But then what?
Didn’t he give his phone to Vivian?
If he hadn’t handed his phone over to Vivian, how would she have ever gotten the chance to send that message?
He had been played for a fool by Vivian, but he was the one who had handed all those opportunities to her on a silver platter.
How could he possibly defend himself?
When it came down to it, hadn’t he just relied on the fact that Seraphina loved him to act completely fearlessly in treating her coldly and neglecting her?
If he had cared even a tiny bit about her, or felt even a shred of remorse, he should have proactively called Seraphina the moment he knew Vivian was safe. Instead, he acted out of spite and stubbornly waited for her to seek him out first.
