Randall rubbed his chin, narrowing his eyes as he watched her retreating figure. He muttered to himself, “So she was customizing a birthday gift for Mortimer. If Mortimer finds out, who knows how thrilled he’ll be? He probably won’t even need his healing factor; he’ll be able to jump right out of his hospital bed today.”

Thinking this, he called the boutique manager over.

“Alpha, what are your orders?”

“That fountain pen Seraphina just ordered-have someone customize a matching couple’s version and give them both to her

tomorrow.”

“Understood, Alpha. I’ll do it right away.”

Randall sat back in his plush leather chair, feeling incredibly smug about his little stroke of genius.

Meanwhile, at the Shadowfang Healing Center.

When Wilmot and the others arrived at the VIP ward to visit Mortimer, they found him stone-faced, ordering Tade to process

his discharge papers.

“What’s the rush? Can’t you just stay one more night?”

“I’m fine. There’s no need to waste medical resources here,” Mortimer said expressionlessly.

“Waste medical resources? You should’ve said that earlier. We could’ve just sent you to the Iceblade Healing Center last night- it’s our own pack’s territory, so it wouldn’t count as a waste,” Wilmot retorted, exasperated.

Mortimer wasn’t in the mood to argue.

His severely damaged mating bond left his face looking deathly pale, but he forcefully suppressed the anxious, pacing wolf soul within him. He changed into the fresh clothes Tade had brought, ripped out his IV drip, and headed for the door.

Right at that moment, frantic footsteps echoed from the hallway, followed by Vivian’s choked sobs crashing into the room.

“Mortimer…”

Mortimer’s gaze snapped toward the door.

The instant his eyes landed on Vivian, a flash of crimson erupted deep within his gloomy irises, and his gaze instantly frosted over with lethal ice.

“You’re here,” Mortimer said. His low tone held no discernible emotional fluctuation, but the air in the room instantly plummeted below freezing.

Vivian, completely oblivious to the danger, only saw that Mortimer was actually speaking to her on his own initiative. Assuming he still harbored feelings for her, her red, swollen eyes lit up.

“Mortimer…” She shoved past the people blocking her way and rushed eagerly up to him. “Sera, she… urgh-”

Vivian couldn’t even finish her sentence before Mortimer moved.

The absolute speed and explosive power of a top-tier Alpha meant that no one in the room even saw him move.

The next second, Vivian’s neck was ruthlessly locked in a grip like an iron vise. The terrifying force instantly crushed all her words back down her throat, lifting her feet clean off the floor.

“Mar… ti… mer…”

Feeling the crushing force around her neck tightening bit by bit, Vivian’s expression shifted from sheer shock to absolute, unadulterated terror.

She batted her pale hands desperately against Mortimer’s arm, looking at him with panicked, pleading eyes, begging him to let go.

But the ruthlessness in Mortimer’s eyes only grew thicker. Driven by the extreme force he was using, razor-sharp, bone- chilling claws protruded from his fingertips, and his grip continued to tighten.

Thick, dark-grey wolf fur began sprouting rapidly across the skin of his hand and forearm. His bones emitted a sickening, teeth- jarring series of cracks and pops.

He was shifting.

If an Alpha fully shifted into his wolf form in a state of absolute, berserk rage inside this cramped hospital room, Vivian would have absolutely no chance of survival.

“You hung up her SOS video call that day.” Mortimer’s tone was eerily calm, as if making casual conversation.

But within those golden, thin-ice wolf eyes lay an undisguised, tyrannical bloodlust, as if he would snap her neck clean off in the very next second.

Vivian was genuinely terrified now.

Her arrogant delusion that “Mortimer will always protect me” completely shattered under the freezing, bloodthirsty gaze of the

man before her.
