Chapter 213
Third Person’s PQV
In the past, Trista always told her she was “too subservient” in front of Mortimer. She hadn’t understood it then.
What was wrong with loving someone?
But it wasn’t until she almost died under the heavy, suffocating snow in Alaska that she finally understood-there is absolutely nothing wrong with loving someone.
The mistake is that, in what should be an equal partnership, you place yourself far too low. You only remember to love him, but you forget to love yourself first.
Thinking of this, Seraphina suddenly felt a bit reflective.
For those three years, she really had been the one trying “too hard to please.”
She reached out and petted Dash, who was happily chewing on his little ball in the stroller, and continued her leisurely stroll through the mall.
During this time, Seraphina received a call from the court. The official stated that Lillian’s legal representation had proposed mediation regarding Dash’s case, but Seraphina flatly refused.
“I do not accept mediation. Let the court judge the case exactly as the law dictates.”
After hanging up, she actually found it a bit amusing.
In a city where even minor disputes took days just to get on the docket, her case against Lillian had been fast-tracked so quickly. As expected, the title of “Luna Seraphina” still carried significant weight.
She just didn’t know how Mortimer planned to help his lifesaver’s family get off the hook this time.
Unexpectedly, toward the evening, she received another call from an unknown number.
“Luna Seraphina, it’s me. Rolf.”
Rolf? Why would he be calling her?
Seraphina didn’t have a bad impression of Rolf, even though he was Vivian’s older brother.
In their few occasional encounters in the past, his attitude toward her had always been far more respectful than Humphrey’s.
So, she remained relatively polite.
“Mr. Davis, how is your recovery going?”
“I’ve gotten much better over the past couple of days. I still need to thank you for saving my life, Luna Seraphina.”
Seraphina quickly calculated the timeline in her head. Rolf must have only fully regained consciousness yesterday or the day before.
He probably still had no idea that his own biological sister had ruthlessly schemed against him, treating him as disposable collateral.
Skipping the pleasantries, Seraphina asked directly, “Did you need me for something?”
The other end of the line fell silent for a moment.
“Luna Seraphina…” Rolf hesitated, struggling to speak. He sounded as if the words were incredibly difficult to force out.
“Luna Seraphina, I found out what my mother did to your puppy. I am truly sorry.”

Guessing exactly what Rolf was leading up to, Seraphina didn’t respond, simply waiting for him to finish.
“I was wondering… what do we need to do for you to accept mediation? We will absolutely cooperate.” Rolf finished his sentence nervously and cautiously, awaiting her response.
Seraphina felt a wave of genuine/pity for Rolf.
She didn’t answer him directly, instead framing the reality for him. “Mr. Davis, your sister nearly got you killed just to frame me. You have only just woken up. Instead of the healthy people in your family coming to beg me themselves, they made you— someone who just crawled back from the Moon Goddess’s gates-make this call. Are they truly not afraid that I might scold you and cause your health to crash again?”
Rolf fell silent for a long while, seemingly digesting the weight of her words. After a moment, he spoke with a bitter chuckle, ” Luna Seraphina, you’re right. But they are my mother and my sister. I can’t just sit back and ignore this.”
Seraphina didn’t argue. She simply stated, “You just woke up. Stop worrying about these things and focus on recovering. As for the case, I will not accept mediation.”
With that, she hung up the phone.
Pushing Dash along for a bit longer, she checked the time and decided to head to the airport to pick up Caldwell.
Just then, her phone rang again.
Surprisingly, it was Rolf once more.
“Luna Seraphina, could you please just give us a chance to compensate you?” Rolf’s voice was practically begging.
Seraphina let out a light laugh and asked, “Are you truly the biological child of the Davises?”
On the other end, Rolf was stunned into dead silence by her calm, deadpan question.
“Mr. Davis, let’s be frank. You might actually be adopted by Vivian’s parents.”
“Seraphina…” Rolf wanted to say something more, but Seraphina didn’t give him the chance.
“Mr. Davis, I cannot agree to your request. Since you are worried about your mother, you should be able to understand how I feel. My puppy is also my family. I personally watched him almost get tortured to death by your mother’s hands. I cannot easily let her off.”
Rolf stayed quiet. It seemed he also felt that pushing the issue further was just too inappropriate and embarrassing
“Rest well and don’t exert yourself anymore.” Out of her basic duty as a doctor, Seraphina offered this final piece of advice before hanging up for good.
After that, whether it was because Rolf’s body couldn’t hold up anymore or because he truly felt he had no face left to keep begging, Seraphina didn’t receive any more calls from him.
What she didn’t know was that Vivian was sitting right across from Rolf at that exact moment.
