Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 214

Chapter 214

Third Person’s POV

Hearing Rolf actually speak up for Seraphina, Vivian was instantly furious.

“Rolf, have you fallen for that bitch Seraphina too? She’s trying to send our mother to prison, and you’re actually taking her side?!” Vivian shrieked, her shrill voice echoing in the hospital room.

Rolf barely had the energy to deal with her. He waved a weak hand and laughed bitterly. “When you treated me like an enemy and cut off my medication, did you remember I was your brother then?”

That single sentence choked Vivian immediately.

A flash of guilt darted through her eyes, quickly followed by the impatient, defensive anger of someone whose lies had been exposed. “Did that bitch Seraphina feed you that garbage too? Didn’t I already tell you it was that lowly nurse who was trying to harm you? What does that have to do with me?”

Rolf stared unblinkingly at Vivian. Finally, he let out a hollow, self-deprecating laugh and didn’t bother arguing.

He had been unconscious for most of the time after his surgery; he had barely spoken two sentences to the nurse.

The nurse had absolutely no grudge against him, so why on earth would she try to harm him?

His sister was completely beyond saving-selfish, arrogant, and delusional. He didn’t even have the strength to argue with her

anymore.

“I’m useless. I can’t help you guys with this.”

Rolf turned his head away and closed his eyes. “Doesn’t Mortimer spoil you to death? Go beg him. Mom’s situation… it can be a massive deal or a minor slap on the wrist. It all depends entirely on whether Alpha Mortimer is willing to step in and help you.”

But hearing Rolf mention Mortimer, the expression on Vivian’s face instantly twisted with a deep, visceral panic.

She suddenly remembered the terrifying scene at the Healing Center-how she had nearly been strangled to death by Mortimer’s bare hands, and how thick, feral wolf fur had begun sprouting from his arms. Her neck throbbed with a phantom

pain, and she couldn’t stop her body from violently shivering.

Standing off to the side, Connor had been lost in his own troubled thoughts, his brows locked in a deep frown. He hadn’t bothered to stop his children from arguing.

But upon hearing his son’s last sentence, his thoughtful gaze abruptly snapped toward Vivian.

“Your brother is right. Mortimer was willing to use his PR department to take down all those videos detrimental to your mother just for you. He will absolutely help your mother out this time.”

Connor still had absolutely no idea what had just transpired at the Shadowfang Healing Center. He didn’t know the colossal disaster his daughter had just caused, and he still blindly believed that Mortimer would grant Vivian’s every request.

“Vivian, go find him and talk to him. As long as Mortimer steps in, dealing with the security bureau will be a walk in the park

Connor didn’t take Lillian’s arrest seriously at all.

It was just a dog. Legally, the absolute worst-case scenario was paying some compensation money. As long as Mortimer showed his face, it wouldn’t matter how stubbornly Seraphina insisted on pressing charges.

Right now, what Connor truly cared about was something else entirely-the advance payment for the East City mall project. The Craig Corporation still hadn’t wired the funds to Everreach’s accounts.

He was terrified that pushing too hard would make Mortimer unhappy, but without receiving a concrete answer or the money, he felt entirely on edge.

“Go find Mortimer and bring up your mother’s situation. While you’re at it, casually ask him when the advance payment for the East City project will be transferred. Don’t ask too directly, frame it delicately, otherwise Mortimer might think we’re just urgently hounding him for money.”

Connor kept talking, completely oblivious to Vivian’s face turning darker and uglier by the second.

“Are you annoying or what?! Why do I have to be the one to show my face for everything?!”

Vivian’s voice was cold and brimming with heavy disgust. “Haven’t you gotten enough benefits from the Craig Corporation through me all these years? Can’t you figure out your own damn solutions? If I keep asking him for things, won’t Mortimer start to hate me?”

Connor was stunned by his daughter’s forceful, impatient outburst.

But he also knew full well that the Davis family only had a voice in front of Alpha Mortimer because of his daughter’s “lifesaver”

halo.

Therefore, even though he felt a surge of dissatisfaction, Connor swallowed his pride and tried to placate her. “Dad knows the family owes you a lot for all these years. But right now, you are the only one who can speak in front of Mortimer. I have no choice but to rely on you.”

“Rely on me?”

Vivian let out a sharp sneer. “Then why do you only plan on handing the company over to Rolf? Why have you never once considered letting me inherit it?”
