Chapter 217
Third Person’s POV
Los Angeles International Airport, International Arrivals.
Seraphina waited at the exit with Dash.
From a distance, she saw Caldwell walking toward her, pushing a suitcase and carrying a large backpack.
Caldwell spotted her too. He took off the sunglasses that covered half his face and waved at her.
“Caldwell,” Seraphina called out, pushing Dash’s stroller forward to meet him.
“Long time no see.” Caldwell raised an eyebrow slightly. “So polite? You’re not going to call me ‘Chairman’?”
Seraphina froze for a second before remembering the playful message she had feplied with earlier today. She laughed out loud.
“Let’s go. We’ll head to the hotel first. I booked a restaurant; I’ll treat you to dinner after you rest up.”
“Alright, then I won’t hold back,” Caldwell nodded with a smile, reaching out to rub Dash’s head. “Dash, say hi.”
Dash looked up at Caldwell with innocent eyes, seemingly understanding as his little mouth parted into a happy puppy smile.
Just as Seraphina and Caldwell got into the SUV, a soft, faint meow suddenly echoed.
Seraphina was stunned. She looked at the man in the passenger seat in complete surprise.
“You keep a cat?”
As werewolves, their innate nature usually leaned toward canines. It was exceedingly rare for a werewolf to choose a feline as a
pet.
However, she watched as Caldwell set down his backpack. Inside lay an incredibly elegant white Devon Rex, wearing a pearl
necklace.
Caldwell lifted the cat out of the bag. After petting its head, he gently held its little paw and waved it at Seraphina. “Toasty, say hi
to Sera.”
The little kitten seemed to understand, letting out a soft, sweet “Meow” at Seraphina. That adorable sound instantly melted her
heart.
“Her name is Toasty?” Seraphina gently held the kitten’s paw pads, unable to resist giving them a little squeeze. Her tone
squeeze. carried a hint of surprise.
“Yeah. She’s my precious treasure.”
While scratching under the kitten’s chin, Seraphina said to Caldwell, “She and I must be destined. When I was little, my dad used to call me Toasty too.”
Her entire attention was focused on the kitten, so she completely missed the slightly unnatural expression that flashed across Caldwell’s face after she said that.
“Oh? Really? What a coincidence,” Caldwell said, kissing the top of the kitten’s head. His gaze discreetly shifted to Seraphina’s smiling face. A profound look flashed through his eyes as the corners of his mouth ticked up slightly.
“Toasty, we really are meant to be! We have the exact same nickname.”
“Meow! Meow!”
Seraphina was utterly charmed by the kitten, the smile on her face growing even more radiant.

“Alright, I have to stop playing with you now so I can take Caldwell to his hotel.” With that, she started the car and drove toward the city center.
The hotel Caldwell booked was right next to the Shadowfang Academy, not far from Seraphina’s apartment.
“The restaurant I booked is near the hotel. You go rest for a bit, and I’ll wait for you in the lobby,” Seraphina told him.
She casually took the cat carrier from him, holding onto the hiding Toasty without letting go, continuously petting her. “I’ll watch Toasty for you. Go get some good rest.”
Seeing how genuinely happy she looked holding the cat, Caldwell smiled and nodded. “Alright. I’ll go up, change my clothes, and be right down.”
Seraphina sat in the hotel lobby, a cat nestled in her lap and Dash sitting in his stroller beside her. Having both Toasty and Dash at the exact same time, her face was the picture of pure contentment.
Meanwhile, inside the Alpha Villa, the atmosphere was gradually being suffocated by an oppressive silence.
Even though the grand feast delivered by the restaurant had been kept in a warming box, it had long since lost its original appeal.
“Um… Mortimer, why don’t you try calling Luna Seraphina again? Maybe she really just got delayed by something?” Humphrey suggested cautiously.
The air was thick with Mortimer’s increasingly anxious pheromones, the heavy aura completely crushing the cheerful mood
from earlier.
Even Randall, who had been so incredibly confident earlier, had lost his nerve and started doubting his own judgment. Was that custom fountain pen Seraphina ordered really for Mortimer?
