Chapter 230

Third Person’s POV

Connor stared at the harsh online comments and the Everreach Building Materials official social media account, which had been flooded with insults. His expression was grim, but beneath it was a trace of panic.

Vivian fell silent, staring at the comments flooding in to praise Mortimer for protecting his mate. Fear and helplessness flashed across her face before twisting into something uglier. Connor knew they were done for.

Although Lillian’s abuse of a dog might have been considered only a matter of public outrage, the situation would change completely once people realized Dash belonged to Mortimer’s mate.

That dog also belonged to Mortimer, and he had already acknowledged it publicly. This was no longer a dispute between a werewolf and a puppy-it had become a direct confrontation between Everreach Building Materials and the Craig Group.

From Mortimer’s actions this time, it seemed he was punishing Lillian on the surface, but in reality, he wouldn’t let Everreach Building Materials off so easily.

Anyone with basic awareness could see it. Those partners who had previously cooperated with Everreach Building Materials out of respect for Mortimer were now preparing to terminate their contracts as soon as they expired.

Connor watched his company’s stock price plummet, his face turning deathly pale.

“It’s over.” He collapsed onto the sofa, his lips beginning to tremble.

If he’d known earlier that the dog was connected to Mortimer, he would’ve stopped Lillian at any cost rather than let her touch that dog. 2

They had arrogantly believed Mortimer would always protect them. They never expected Lillian to be taken away after only one day, or for the dog abuse video and her identity to go viral so quickly. Everything had spiraled out of control far too fast, and there was no doubt Mortimer was behind it.

“He…he’s planning to abandon us.” The thought made Connor’s lips tremble even more, his entire face frighteningly pale.

Suddenly, he sprang up from the sofa and dialed a number. “Has the Craig Group’s advance payment come in yet?”

After the reply from the other end, Connor’s grip on the phone went slack, and he collapsed onto the sofa.

Vivian was startled. “Dad, what’s wrong? Has the Craig Group’s money not arrived yet?”

Connor stared at her, dazed, as if searching for something to hold onto. “The Graig Group wants to end our contract. All ongoing cooperation and future projects have been put on hold.”

Vivian also collapsed onto the sofa. “How is that possible? Mortimer wouldn’t be so ruthless.”

She shook her head, but her eyes were filled with hatred and unwillingness.

The next second, Connor slapped her hard across the face. “At a time like this, you’re still deluding yourself!”

“Dad…”

“Our family is about to go bankrupt!” Connor shouted at her, his eyes bloodshot.

Vivian’s face paled at the word “bankrupt.” “Dad, calm down. We’ve had countless projects with the Craig Group. If they break all our contracts, the termination fees will be enormous. They wouldn’t make such a reckless move just because of a dog.”

Vivian hadn’t yet told Connor that she had sent that message to Seraphina back then.

Nor did she dare tell Connor that Mortimer’s attack on Everreach Building Materials had been triggered by her own actions.

She could only shift the blame onto her mother’s abuse of Seraphina’s dog.

“ACL recklessly for a dog?” Connor let out a mocking laugh, “Have you forgotten how he treated that dog?”

At the grand eightieth anniversary banquet of the Craig Group, he personally carried the dog in front of the media and declared, in front of so many people, that the dog was like his brother.

“Is it just a dog?” Connor shouted at Vivian until his voice was hoarse.

Vivian remembered how Mortimer had acted around the dog in public-so gentle and protective, as if he were his most precious

treasure.

No matter how unwilling she was, she could no longer ignore it at this moment.

“Dad, even if that’s true, the Craig Group breached the contract. The termination fees alone would be huge. Even if Mortimer agrees, the Craig Group wouldn’t.”

Connor, reminded by this, realized, “You’re right. All our projects with them are worth hundreds of millions. If they terminate now, just the penalty fees will consume a huge amount of the Craig Group’s cash flow. The board members definitely won’t

agree to it.”

Thinking this, Connor finally relaxed a bit and called his assistant. “Compile all our contracts with the Craig Group and send them to me. Have the finance department calculate all the penalty fees right away.”
