How could Vivian possibly think that after publicly accusing her of cheating on her mate, Seraphina would still be willing to ask Mortimer to spare the Davis family?

Mortimer had always protected Vivian without question. How could he now stand by and watch his childhood sweetheart become so desperate, even driving her family’s business to the brink?

Seraphina silently watched Vivian play the victim, then suddenly said, “Rolf is really pitiful.”

The unexpected comment almost made Vivian break character.

She stared at Seraphina in shock, forgetting even to cry. Was Seraphina crazy?

Why bring up Rolf now?

“You bribed a nurse and nearly got him killed. Then you framed him on top of that. And now, because of your own stupidity, he’s about to lose the last remaining piece of his family’s business.”

Looking at Vivian, Seraphina suddenly realized that Rolf’s situation wasn’t so different from her own.

Both of them had become victims of the twisted relationship between Vivian and Mortimer.

She had already died once in the snowfields of Alaska and was ready to walk away for good.

She only wondered whether Rolf, after nearly losing his life, would ever get the chance to break free from this disgusting mess for good.

Vivian hadn’t expected Seraphina to pity Rolf at a time like this.

“So it really was her. She nearly got her own brother killed. She’s terrifying. To frame Seraphina, she’d even sacrifice her own brother.”

Whispers spread through the crowd.

Vivian’s heart lurched. The pitiful expression she’d been wearing instantly fell apart.

“Seraphina, stop making things up! You’re the one who went to a hotel with another man behind Mortimer’s back. I caught you, and now you’re trying to turn it around on me?”

Her guilty conscience made her overreact. Her face twisted with anger, and the innocent, delicate image she’d carefully crafted disappeared completely.

Seraphina, however, remained perfectly composed. She calmly took out her phone and dialed a number.

The call connected almost immediately.

Seraphina switched on speakerphone without hesitation. Mortimer’s cautious, almost eager voice came through the phone. ‘ Sera?”

Vivian heard it too. The color drained from her face.

“Vivian claims you saw me go to a hotel with another man. Tell us what you saw. My students are all here, and they’re curious.”

As soon as Seraphina finished speaking, a loud clatter came from the other end, followed by the scrape of a chair. “Sera, don’t listen to Vivian. She’s talking nonsense.”

She sounded almost amused, as though she were watching someone else’s drama unfold.

Silence fell on the other end of the line.

Although they were standing outside, everyone nearby instinctively held their breath. The atmosphere grew unnaturally tense.

Vivian’s face had turned completely pale. Her legs trembled beneath her, and she swayed as though she might collapse.

She stared at Seraphina in disbelief. She had never imagined Seraphina would confront Mortimer directly and air everything in public.

Wasn’t she afraid of becoming everyone’s gossip?

How could she be so fearless?

Vivian was furious, panicked, and above all, terrified that her lies were about to unravel.

Her lips trembled as she desperately searched for a way to salvage the situation. Then Mortimer spoke again.

“Is Vivian with you?” His voice was far colder than before.
