“Mortimer, I saved your life once. Please… just give me one more chance. I’m begging you.” Vivian cried until her voice was raw. Her shrill sobs pierced the silence of the academy grounds, grating on everyone’s nerves.
Mortimer fell silent again.
Over the faint static of the phone, all anyone could hear was his heavy, restrained breathing.
A long silence followed. Just when everyone was certain he was about to refuse her, his deep, conflicted voice finally came through. “All right. Come to the Craig Group headquarters.”
A collective gasp rippled through the werewolf students gathered around them.
Vivian froze, her sobs catching in her throat. She had been braced for the absolute worst-public rejection and utter humiliation.
Yet, Mortimer had agreed.
The fear in her eyes vanished in an instant, replaced by a relief like that of a gambler who had just escaped death.
After a stunned beat, she nodded excitedly into her phone. “O-Okay… I’ll come right away, Mortimer! I knew you wouldn’t
abandon me!”
“Sera-“Mortimer called out urgently, clearly trying to explain himself.
“Alpha Mortimer, now that you’re back in touch with Miss Davis, I don’t think you’ll be needing me as your go-between anymore,” Seraphina replied. “Class is about to start, so I’ll be hanging up.”
Without giving him the chance to say another word, she tapped the screen and ended the call.
Vivian, standing in front of her, no longer looked panicked or on the verge of collapse.
She straightened her back, wiped away her tears, and looked at Seraphina with smug, unhinged satisfaction.
“Did you hear that?” she sneered, her sharp, biting nature fully unmasked. “I told you. Mortimer could never bring himself to be cruel to me.”
Her eyes gleamed with contempt. “Seraphina, between you and me, this supreme Alpha will always choose me.”
Her disdainful gaze dropped to the weak Dash in the cart, and a vicious smile curled her lips. “As for your mutt…” she scoffed. ” Even if my mother had really thrown it into the sewer and killed it the other day, it would’ve deserved it. See? In the end, he still
chose me. Hahaha-”
Just then, a sharp crack echoed through the hall.
Vivian’s laughter was cut off by a stinging slap across the face.
Clutching her rapidly swelling cheek, she stared at Seraphina, her eyes wide with disbelief. “Seraphina, you bitch! How dare you hit me?!”
Pain and humiliation shattered her composure in an instant. With a shriek, she raised her hand, her nails lengthening into razor -sharp claws as she swung at Seraphina’s face.
Before Seraphina could make a move, a black leather-gloved hand shot out from the side and clamped around Vivian’s wrist like a steel vise.
“Let go! You bastard!” Vivian struggled violently and turned her head.
Then she met Caldwell’s icy, sinister gaze. His eyes glinted with the unmistakable menace of a predator. The wolf inside her instinctively shrank back in fear, and every insult she’d been about to hurl died in her throat.

Then, she remembered Mortimer’s indulgence just moments ago. Her confidence returned—and with it, that familiar
smugness.
Grinding her teeth, she sneered, “Oh, so it’s you, the guy who checked into a hotel with Seraphina to sle-”
Before she could finish, a sickening surge of pain shot through her wrist, as though every bone in it were about to be crushed. Her face twisted in agony. “Let… let go! You… you…”
She trembled violently from the pain, her face deathly pale, her arrogance gone. Beneath Caldwell’s overwhelming Alpha aura, the weak wolf inside her shook in terror. She couldn’t even force out a complete sentence, the fear in her eyes returning full force before his supreme power.
“I have a rule against hitting women, but I’ll gladly make an exception for you,” Caldwell said flatly, his face blank. “If you still don’t know how to watch your mouth, I don’t mind teaching you myself.”
