Third Person’s POV

Seraphina walked into this familiar place once again. The surroundings remained unchanged. Everything was kept neat and tidy.
She went upstairs and stood in front of the large, familiar door, hesitating for a moment before finally pressing the doorbell.
The door opened quickly, and Seraphina froze when she saw who was standing there. It was Humphrey.
Seraphina stood at the doorway, feeling a bit dazed.
Humphrey stepped aside respectfully to let her enter. “Luna Seraphina, please come in.”
She walked inside without thinking, but then stopped. The entire room was filled with Mortimer’s close friends, and the living room had been arranged like the setting for a grand ceremony.
She didn’t react at first until Mortimer stepped out from the crowd holding a beautifully wrapped bouquet of blue roses.
He had changed out of his usual casual clothes, and the tailored suit made him look even more distinguished than usual, while his usual intimidating presence was carefully softened.
For a moment, she saw him as he had been years ago at Shadowfang Academy’s freshman ceremony-standing on the stage as the representative of the new generation, filled with youthful confidence.
But unlike back then, Mortimer’s eyes now held obvious nervousness, even a hint of uncertainty.
He walked up to her, and under the gaze of all their friends, set aside his usual pride and knelt on one knee.
“Sera, I know these three years have been hard for you. I haven’t been the mate you deserved, and I’m grateful for all the patience you’ve shown me. Today is the third anniversary of our bond. I’m asking you to give me another chance-to let me love you the way I should have from the beginning. Will you?”
He looked at her earnestly as he held out the blue roses. The mate bond between them trembled faintly, reacting to the depth of
his emotions.
Seraphina liked flowers, and she had grown them before.
In the place where she and Mortimer once lived together, in the garden on the large terrace, she had planted many flowers.
Back then, she’d always quietly used flowers that carried the meaning of unspoken love to express her feelings for him, but she’d never planted blue roses, because they were artificially created, not naturally grown.
No matter how exquisite their appearance or how carefully they were cultivated, they were ultimately not natural.
Just like Mortimer’s sudden affection for her, born out of guilt and possessiveness after sensing she was slipping away from him, it appeared beautiful and genuine, yet it stirred an indescribable feeling of rejection in her.
In the center of the bouquet lay a finely cut ring, shining with a blue glow. Against the petals’ luster, it was indeed beautiful.
Mortimer saw her standing silently, and the last trace of hope in his expression slowly disappeared.
He forced a smile, took out the ring, his fingertips trembling slightly. “Sera, I want to make a real promise to you. Will you give me another chance?”
He tried to smile, but when he met Seraphina’s calm and unruffled gaze, that smile slowly collapsed.
But he still refused to give up. Taking a deep breath, he tried to awaken their mate bond.
He quietly released a trace of his alpha scent, the familiar blend of forest and amber slowly enveloping her while keeping it gentle and restrained.

He tried to reach Lily, the she-wolf buried deep within her, hoping to stir the instinctive longing she felt for her mate.
However, this pleading scent received no reaction from her.

Mortimer reached out with trembling hands to take hers, wanting to slip the ring onto her finger.
Everyone held their breath, knowing this was a desperate attempt with almost no chance of success. They all believed Mortimer would fail, but as the people who had known him for years, they still hoped Seraphina would give him one more chance.
Just as the ring was about to touch her finger, Seraphina suddenly came back to herself and withdrew her hand.
The light in Mortimer’s eyes faded, as if someone had slowly switched it off.
The smile at the corner of his lips faded.
“I-it’s okay. If you don’t want to, that’s fine.”
He forced himself to keep up a smile more painful than tears, then took out a document from the side and handed it to her, his voice trembling. “Our previous contract has ended. This is a new one. Please take a look, will you?”
Seraphina said nothing as Mortimer stubbornly held out the contract to her, his eyes filled with desperate hope. “Sera, let’s renew it one more time. A hundred years. Give me a hundred years to love you. Please.”
