“Goodbye.”

She waved at Mortimer, then turned and walked toward the parking lot.

Mortimer remained standing there, staring at Seraphina’s retreating figure. A bitter smile slowly formed on his lips.

She was genuinely happy to end their relationship.

He suddenly remembered how happy she had been when she first formed their bond.

Even though he had never given her a proper bonding ceremony.

But that happiness had only lasted in the beginning.
