Frederic squeezed my hand, his eyes full of heartache.

He knew Kaelan had dragged out our engagement, but he hadn’t known just how much I’d suffered.

“Frederic gives me complete care and love. He won’t let me suffer.”

Kaelan watched us go and could no longer bear it. Finally, he collapsed to his knees.
