Yvonne was not someone who was easily fooled. Even as Nathan was speaking, she had already pieced together many things she preferred not to know.

Her face darkened. She threw Caleb and Nathan a harsh glare, causing both of them to panic for a brief

second.

But almost immediately, hesitation set in.

Was she really going to fire Caleb and Nathan just for the sake of an intern and Ethan, the well- connected hire?

These two, especially Nathan, were veterans of the marketing department who commanded a decent amount of respect among the staff. If she launched a thorough investigation into Caleb and Nathan today, what would the rest of the team think?

Would they assume she was biased toward a well-connected hire and, under Nathan’s instigation, walk out on her? What would she do then?

She cannot afford instability within her department or falling performance.

Yvonne massaged her furrowed brow once more, her thoughts growing cold and clear.

The intern, Travis, was in a truly pitiful situation, but she was the Marketing Director of Stellaris. The department’s performance and interests had to be her priority, not seeking justice for a mere intern.

True, the intern had been wronged, his body and mind wounded, and his reputation tarnished. But he was still young; justice would surely find him sooner or later. It doesn’t matter if he waited for a while.

With that thought, her hesitation vanished.

“You have a point,” Yvonne said, nodding to Nathan. “Whether workplace bullying actually occurred requires a more thorough investigation. We cannot rush to a conclusion. Therefore, Ethan’s decision to fire you both will be put on hold for now.”

Yvonne turned to Ethan. “Nathan and Caleb are both full-time employees here. They have work histories, performance records, and contributions to consider. Before making any final decision, I will personally verify all the facts.”

The moment she finished speaking, Nathan and Caleb flashed triumphant smiles. Caleb even went so far as to secretly give Ethan a provocative middle finger.

Ethan, however, did not react. He simply looked at the three of them calmly; even his previous anger

seemed to have vanished entirely.

He just laughed coldly, his eyes darkened.

To the rest of the office, his calm expression was interpreted as a sign of backing down.

Well then, that settles it!” Yvonne clapped her hands. “Caleb, Nathan, both of you go back to your desks and get to work. Be careful, and don’t cause any more trouble.”

“As for Ethan,” her tone softened slightly. “You are new here, so for now, your primary focus should be on getting familiar with the department and our current projects. Make sure to build good relationships with your colleagues. As for that intern you care so much about, I’ll find some time to have a chat with him

later.”

Ethan still offered no response.

The three of them exchanged glances, then pushed open the door of Ethan’s office and walked out

The moment they stepped out of Ethan’s office, the smile on Nathan’s face grew significantly wider

This was not just because he had achieved a major victory over Ethan, but also because he wanted to make sure everyone in the marketing department witnessed his triumph.

His plan had worked.

“Oh my god, Nathan, you’re amazing!” someone tugged at his sleeve as he walked past.

“How did you stand up to Ethan? Teach me, so I can use it next time!” another person whispered to him.

“I’m completely behind you. To hell with that shameless leech who only knows how to seduce the CEO, and his little intern boyfriend!”
