Ex Wife's Collapse After Divorce novel Chapter 84

Chapter 84

“I-I had no idea.” Nathan’s voice filled with vindicated outrage. “The nerve of him. To go around picking fights with anyone he pleases, just because he warms Aurora Sinclair’s bed. Unbelievable. That kind of

arrogance-”

Then he stopped. And when he spoke again, there was a slow, spreading eagerness in it.

“…Actually. Mr. Hale. I think I have exactly the man for this. Someone I’ve been keeping in my back pocket for a while now-and it looks like the time has finally come to use him.”

Damian’s interest sharpened. “Go on. I’m listening.”

“You know the economic development zone project in the northern district? The one Stellaris wants to pour resources into?”

“The one Ethan Carter is supposedly co-managing. And it’s his first project.”

“Exactly. The territory chief for that zone is a man named Marcus. And I happen to know one of Marcus’s most trusted enforcers. A man named Rocco.”

Damian filed the name away. “And?”

“And Rocco and I have an understanding. If I ask him to poison Marcus against Ethan-tell him the man. is unreliable, untrustworthy, a liability-Marcus will listen. And if I ask Rocco to pay Ethan a visit… a very physical visit…”

He was almost purring now.

“The project falls apart,” Damian finished. “Ethan gets his face rearranged, and by the time he’s out of the hospital, his cozy little deputy director title is gone.”

Damian let out a slow breath. A real smile spread across his face now-cold and sharp and satisfied.

“Make the call,” he said.

“I will. Rocco’s been waiting for an opportunity like this. He owes me a favor, and he doesn’t ask

questions.”

“One thing.” Damian’s voice flattened. “You never spoke to me. This conversation never happened. Whatever Rocco does, it comes from you and you alone.”

“Of course. You have my word, Mr. Hale. You gave me backing. I’ll make sure none of this traces back to

you.”

“Good.”

Damian ended the call and slid the phone into his pocket. His gaze drifted up the empty street where

Ethan’s car had vanished.

You think you’re untouchable.

He turned and walked toward his own car, footsteps echoing on the quiet pavement.

“Enjoy it while it lasts, Carter,” he murmured to no one. “Because your suffering is about to begin.”
