FAKE DATING WITH BENEFITS MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS (Ophelia Corrigan) novel Chapter 169

CHAPTER 169

– JAMIE

A shiver ran through me despite the hot water.

“Where?”

“In the kitchen.”

“When?”

His jaw tightened.

“I don’t know.”

“What was she doing?”

He closed his eyes.

“Simon.”

“I… I don’t know.” Frustration sharpened his voice. Then he opened his eyes and looked at me again. “Something’s wrong.”

That wiped away the last trace of humor.

“With you?”

He nodded once.

I lifted a hand to his face. His skin was hot.

“I can’t stop thinking.” His hand slid around my waist, pulling me flush against him. “I’m trying, Jamie. But fuck… I feel like I’m going to crawl out of my skin if I can’t have you right now.”

“Simon, I’m not kidding.”

“Neither am I.”

I caught his wrist when he tried to pull me closer again. “You’re done drinking for today. And you’re not doing anything else until I know you’re okay.”

His gaze dropped to my mouth.

“I’m not kidding either.”

“Simon…”

“I want you, Jamie.” His eyes lifted to mine, far too intense for someone in his condition. “So fucking bad. I’m

hard just looking at you.”

The bluntness sent a treacherous spark through me.

I ignored it.

“Forget it. Now is not the time.”

He leaned in and brushed his mouth over my neck.

My breath caught.

“Simon.”

Another kiss. Slower this time.

I fisted my hand in his wet shirt and forced myself to push him back.

“No.”

He blinked at me.

“You’re not sober enough for this.”

Something shifted in his expression. The desire was still there, but now there was recognition too.

“I’m sober enough to fuck my wife.”

“We’re not married yet.”

His mouth curved into a slow smile.

“That’s a technicality. A week from now, you’re mine anyway.”

My heart did something stupid at Mrs. Hart.

I narrowed my eyes.

“I think you should keep your hands off me until your brain catches up with your ego.”

“That could take years.”

“Then brace yourself for a very long dry spell.”

He groaned like I’d just sentenced him to death.

I laughed and let us stay there a little longer. Simon closed his eyes and rested his head against the tile while the water kept pouring over us. Little by little, the tension seemed to drain out of his body, and his breathing settled.

When he opened his eyes again, the difference was obvious. He still wasn’t completely sober, but at least he

could focus on me now without that hazy, unfixed look from before.

“Better?”

He nodded, dragging a wet hand over his face.

Only then did I turn off the shower.

We stepped out, dripping all over the bath mat. I grabbed two towels, wrapped one around myself, and tossed the other at his face.

“Dry off.”

He pulled the towel down and stared at me.

“What?”

“You came home early.”

I leaned against the vanity.

“I did.”

“Why?”

I rolled my eyes.

“Because my coworkers are traitors.”

His attention sharpened.

“What happened?”

“They promised we were just going out for drinks. Then a bunch of men showed up.”

His expression changed instantly.

“What men?”

I almost laughed.

There he was.

Simon Hart could barely focus, but apparently his jealousy had excellent motor skills.

“Relax, caveman.”

“How many?”

“Does it matter?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because I need to know how many bodies I have to get rid of.”

I snorted.

“You’re not getting rid of anybody.”

“Then give me their names.”

“I don’t know their names, Simon!”

“That’s worse.”

“They were strippers.”

He stared at me.

Then his eyes narrowed.

“Male strippers?”

“No, Simon. A synchronized swimming team.”

“Jamie.”

I burst out laughing.

“Yes. Male strippers. I left.”

“Why?”

The question came out quieter than I expected.

I looked at him.

Because none of them were you. My gorgeous, ridiculously hot, jealous fiancé.

The answer came to me so fast it scared me.

So naturally, I said something else.

“Because one of them was covered in body glitter.”

Simon’s mouth twitched.

“Seriously?”

“Seriously.”

“And that was the only reason?”

Damn him.

I folded my arms over the towel.

“Maybe I wasn’t in the mood to have some stranger grind his ass in my face three days before I marry another

man.”

Neither of us looked away.

The answer hung between us for a beat, and then, somehow, we both started laughing.

The laughter faded. He kept looking at me, then took a step closer.
