What Samuel didn’t know was that the business partner he trusted had already been bought off by Jane Walker.
After being showered with money, the man had immediately agreed to introduce Samuel to the investment opportunity.
And the project was designed perfectly.
When Samuel invested his first small sum, he actually earned three times his money back.
Excited, he immediately invested again.
The result? Another threefold return.
“Are we about to become rich?”
Olivia nearly jumped out of her seat when she heard the news.
“At this rate,” Samuel said excitedly, “we’ll be able to move Sutton Group’s headquarters to Capital City before long.”
Then he turned toward his daughter.
“By the way, Olivia… have you decided which university you like?”
Olivia hesitated. “Dad… I actually wanted to discuss something with you.”
“What is it? Go ahead and tell me.”
Samuel Sutton was in an excellent mood. As long as his daughter’s request wasn’t too unreasonable, he was willing to agree to just about anything.
Olivia Sutton pretended to hesitate before speaking softly.
“I looked over the universities my teachers recommended, but I don’t really like any of them…”
“Then we’ll find another counselor and look at different options.”
Olivia lowered her head.
“After looking through everything, I still like Capital University the most.” She paused before adding, “Besides, Ethan is there. If I’m not around, there are always women trying to get close to him.”
During a video call with Ethan the previous day, she had noticed him sitting beside another girl.
He had explained that she was just a college classmate visiting campus.
Once or twice was one thing.

But if it happened often enough, who was to say Ethan wouldn’t change his mind?
She hadn’t found anyone better than him yet.
She needed to hold on tightly.
Samuel considered it carefully.
She had a point.
Maintaining their connection to Mayor Vaughn’s family was still beneficial.
The problem was that Olivia’s score simply wasn’t high enough.

“Didn’t they say the top scorer can bring someone along?” Vanessa suddenly suggested. “Why don’t we have Iris take Olivia to Capital University with her?”
“I already asked.” Samuel frowned. “She said Olivia’s score doesn’t qualify and refused.”
“And you believed her?” Vanessa scoffed. “She’s obviously doing it on purpose.”
Then her eyes lit up.
“She’s definitely going to invite us to her graduation banquet if she wants to collect more gift money, When that happens, I’ll talk to her personally.”
Samuel knew his wife well enough to realize there was no stopping her once she had made up her mind.
“Fine. But be polite. You’re asking her for a favor, after all.”
“I know.”
Meanwhile, at a hospital in downtown Capital City, the Noir Family had arranged the best caregivers and nutritionists available for Vivian Hart as a gesture of gratitude.
Her recovery progressed quickly.
Creek Hall’s efficiency was equally impressive.
Three days before Iris’s graduation banquet, every detail had already been finalized.
The day before Vivian’s discharge, Iris and Ares Barclay arrived carrying flowers to celebrate.
“When I get back to Kingsley, you’ll have to let me cook something special for you,” Vivian said with a
smile.
“Aunt Vivian, why don’t you stay in Capital City?” Iris wasn’t comfortable letting her return alone.
There was no telling whether the Sutton family would cause trouble again.
“You’ve all done more than enough for me already.” Vivian shook her head. “I should go home.”

She disliked relying on others.

And since everything Iris owned had ultimately come from the Noir Family, Vivian didn’t want to feel like she owed them too much.
Iris had anticipated this response. She handed over an envelope.
“Noah has already been admitted to Capital Preparatory Academy. Wouldn’t it be better to stay here and take care of him?”
As expected, mentioning Noah immediately made Vivian hesitate.
Ares seized the opportunity. “And Capital Preparatory Academy’s cafeteria is currently hiring. You could apply.”
Vivian blinked. “Really?”
“The benefits are excellent,” Ares continued. “Housing and meals are included. Of course, they’re selective! Applicants need a professional chef certification.”
Vivian’s eyes lit up instantly. “I have one!”
Not only could she stay close to Noah, but she could also support herself independently.
Her mood improved immediately.
Smiling, she accepted the flowers from Iris.
“Oh, right.” She suddenly looked at Iris. “Have you decided which university you’re applying to?”

Wed,
“I did use some influence. But it was yours.”
