Vanessa flipped through the three invitations.
“There aren’t any names listed for the invitees on these…”
Still, there were exactly three of them. That had to be for their family of three, right?
“I knew Iris couldn’t bring herself to give up our gift money!”
Vanessa snorted and casually slipped the invitations into her purse.

When Vivian had first seen the invitations, she had felt a pang of jealousy. When she hosted her banquet at Creek Hall, the venue hadn’t even provided printed invitations for her. She’d had to order custom ones herself.
These invitations were beautifully designed, with Creek Hall’s official seal embossed on the back.
Why was there a difference in treatment even for something as simple as invitations?
Vivian never returned, and after waiting for a long time, the two women gave up and left with the invitations.
Vanessa planned to confront Iris about it in person at the banquet.
Money talks. Now that Samuel’s project had started making a profit, she was convinced that whatever they asked of Iris, she would agree.
After learning that the graduation celebration was scheduled for the very next day, they decided not to return to Kingsley. Instead, they checked into a nearby hotel and told Samuel to come directly that evening.
Vanessa even took Olivia shopping for a ready–made evening gown at the last minute.
Her goal was simple: make sure Olivia outshined Iris.
And just like that, the day of Iris’s graduation celebration arrived.
Because of the seasonal change, Iris had been exhausted lately. Early that morning, the household staff practically dragged her out of bed to start getting her dressed and styled.
While her hair was being curled, she even managed to sneak in a short nap.
Creek Hall’s event planners were incredibly reliable. Every detail had already been arranged perfectly. All Iris had to do was get ready, show up at the venue, and say a few words.
“Do I really have to give a speech?”
Looking at the event schedule, Iris frowned, her freshly shaped brows knitting together.
She honestly didn’t have much to say.

Eleanor sat nearby, watching her daughter get ready.

“It just a standard part of the program. If you don’t want to do it, we’ll remove it. My precious daughter being happy is what matters most.”
Then she turned to the stylists.
“Be gentle while you’re doing her hair. Let Iris get a little more sleep.”
Following Eleanor’s instructions, the stylists immediately became extra careful, moving as quietly as possible.
Ironically, all the fuss ended up waking Iris completely.
A little later, Richard called Eleanor out to help him with his tie, leaving the bedroom door open.
“Ares? You’re here so early! Iris isn’t finished getting ready yet!”
Iris heard Eleanor calling Ares’s name and complimenting how handsome he looked today.
Moments later, she heard footsteps coming up the stairs.
Ares walked in wearing a black suit.
It wasn’t the dull, formal kind of black suit, though. Thin silver pinstripes ran down the fabric, catching the light with every movement and making him impossible to ignore.
“You look beautiful today.”
Smiling, he sat down where Eleanor had been sitting and fixed his gaze on Iris without looking away.
Iris stared at her reflection in the mirror.
For a brief moment, she had the strange feeling that she wasn’t attending a graduation banquet at all.
It felt more like a wedding.
Especially when she noticed the stylist preparing to pin her hair into an elegant updo.
She immediately objected.
“Just braid it.”
“Of course, Miss Noir.”
“Sis, Mom asked me to bring in your brooch… Oh, Ares is here too?”
Chloe walked in holding the brooch that had been left in the living room.
The moment she saw Ares’s appearance today, her eyes lit up and a blush quickly spread across he

After handing the brooch to the stylist, Chloe noticed that Ares had been patiently waiting while Iris o

She wanted to sit beside him and chat.
Just as she was about to step forward, Ares immediately sensed her intention and shifted his pose.
His legs were ridiculously long.
After he adjusted his position, there was no room left beside him for anyone else to sit.
Chloe froze mid–step.
Awkwardly, she pulled her foot back and left the room in disappointment.
Once the hairstyle was changed to a braid, the stylist worked much faster.
Before long, Iris’s look was complete.
The family headed to Creek Hall in two separate cars.
By the time they arrived, guests had only just begun to trickle in.
The students from Foundation Class were among the earliest arrivals.
“This is so fancy!”
