Fake Daughter Is The Real Legend (Iris Sutton) novel Chapter 221

Chapter 221 The Real Purpose

“Emily Wolfe? That’s a nice name.”

Olivia searched her memory

None of Capital City’s prominent families carried the Wolfe surname. Apparently, Emily wayn wealthy heiress from an influential dynasty.

Ordinarily, Olivia wouldn’t have bothered trying to befriend someone like that.

But in this environment, everyone seemed to be talking about Iris. Emily was the only person he could manage a conversation with.

Emily, meanwhile, was irritated for entirely different reasons.

The Noir family hadn’t even sent her an invitation.

The Wolfe family had only learned about the banquet through rumors and shamelessly approached the Noirs with congratulations until they managed to secure an invitation.

The Wolfes were relentless by nature.

When Emily had failed to make any progress, they scolded her for being useless and ordered her to get close to Iris. Follow Iris everywhere, they said. Stay near her long enough, and eventually an opportunity would present itself.

Emily hated the idea. So she had claimed she wasn’t feeling well and hidden herself in a quiet corner, hoping to be left alone.

Yet somehow Olivia had still found her.

“Sigh. My sister keeps getting more popular. I guess moving to a different city really helps. Nobody knows about your past anymore.”

Though Emily wasn’t from one of Capital City’s elite families, she had spent enough time around the social circle to immediately recognize Olivia’s intentions.

The girl was obviously fishing for gossip.

Out of politeness, Emily responded anyway.

“That’s true. A new place can mean a fresh start.”

Olivia stared at her speechlessly. Was this girl genuinely clueless, or was she pretending? Every response missed the point entirely. She had a stomach full of rumors she wanted to spread, but Emily kept refusing to take the bait.

The frustration was almost unbearable.

I’m going outside for some air!”

She stood up abruptly and stormed off.

From across the room, Iris caught sight of Olivia leaving in a huff.

At almost the same moment, Emily looked up and happened to meet Iris’s gaze.

She offered a small, polite smile.

A while later, Vincent pushed open the door to the student lounge.

“Iris, Mom and Dad want you in the main hall.”

Although the lengthy speech portion had been canceled, the guest of honor still needed to make an appearance.

The moment Vincent entered, several girls instinctively straightened their hair and adjusted their outfits

The Noir family’s genetics were truly unfair.

Iris was stunning.

And her brother was just as handsome.

As Iris stood up, Vincent’s gaze swept across the students.

Then he spotted the second person he had been sent to find.

“Julie Young. Grandma Evelyn wants to see you too.”

Julie had just sat down beside Emily, intending to ask what was bothering her, when Vincent called her out by name.

“You two go ahead. I’ll come in a minute.”

She waved dismissively, wanting to continue talking to Emily.

“She asked for you now.” Vincent remained standing where he was. “Preferably without delay.”

Julie stared at him.

Vincent stared back.

After a lengthy stalemate, Julie finally surrendered.

“What are you, some kind of ice machine? Do you ever adapt?” She muttered under her breath while heading toward the door.

Vincent led the way.

Iris and Julie followed behind him

Iris, look at your brother. He’s like a walking iceberg.” Julie hooked her arm around Iris’s. “At this rate, d

u think he’ll ever find a girlfriend?”

She openly discussed him while he was still within earshot.

Vincent’s shoulders stiffened for a moment.

Then he silently increased his pace and disappeared into the banquet hall.

“See that? See that?” Julie grinned. “I’m telling you, he was exactly like this when he was a kid. Co to everyone. No warmth. No personality.”

After thinking for a moment, she added,

“Though he does seem nicer to you.”

By then, they had entered the main hall.

Thanks to Eleanor’s instructions, the formal program had been kept short.

Iris merely appeared briefly, exchanged greetings, and delivered a few casual remarks.

At one of the tables. Theodore Barclay surveyed the guests and still looked dissatisfied.

“They should’ve listened to me and invited more people.” He shook his head. “How can a gathering this small possibly match the status of my future granddaughter–in–law?”

Evelyn Young, whose health had improved considerably, was seated at the same table.

She immediately frowned.

“These are the most influential people in all of Capital City–people with real power and wealth.” She snorted. “If there were any more guests, it’d look like a crowded marketplace.”

She was still criticizing the arrangements when she spotted Iris approaching, her entire expression transformed instantly.

“Iris is here!”

She waved enthusiastically.

“Come over here! Let Grandma get a good look at you!”

She had been wondering why Iris hadn’t come over yet.

This was the granddaughter she had been dreaming about for days.
