Chapter 232 Clue
The question had barely left the boy’s mouth when he noticed their intertwined hands.
“Oh.”
He immediately got the message and wisely stopped asking questions.
Taking the items from Ares, he quickly led them inside.
“Our tech team analyzed the kidnappers captured in the video and used a few special methods finally
tracked down their current hideout!”
The boy pushed open the door.
Inside was a conference room dominated by a massive movable display screen. Four or five people sat around it, deeply engaged in discussion, every one of them wearing a serious expression.
“Boss, you’re here!”
At the same time, they couldn’t help finding it strange.
This was the first time Ares had ever brought an unfamiliar woman directly into one of the Alliance Secure Mission’s meeting rooms.
A few curious glances landed on Iris.
Under normal circumstances, there would have been endless gossip.
But with Emma Barclay still missing, nobody had the energy for it.
“Continue.” Ares nodded toward the screen and placed the takeout containers on the table beside Iris’s seat. “If you’re hungry, eat whenever you want.”
He thoughtfully opened the lids for her.
A rich aroma ir antly spread through the conference room.
Compared to that food, the boxed lunches everyone else had eaten suddenly seemed utterly tasteless.
Several people who had already finished eating found themselves swallowing unconsciously.
The man leading the briefing coughed several times and hurriedly regained his composure.
Pointing at several marked locations on the map, he said,
“Based on our analysis, those drumsticks–I mean, those kidnappers–are most likely hiding at one of the locations marked on this flatbread-“)
He stopped.

Damn it.
That food smelled so good it was affecting his ability to think.
Iris picked up a wrap from the container and looked at him.
“Do you want one? I can’t finish all of this myself.”
The man immediately waved both hands.
“No, no! I’m fine!”
There was no way he was touching food brought by the boss unless Ares explicitly offered it.
Taking a deep breath, he forced himself back to business.
“Our teams are conducting the final sweep now. We’ve narrowed the search area down significantly. We should locate Miss Emma very soon.”
Sure enough, five minutes later, news arrived from the neighboring operations room.
The kidnappers‘ exact location had been identified.
“Move out immediately!”
Ares grabbed Iris’s hand and headed for the door.
Everyone else followed close behind.
The kidnappers had taken Emma to a rural town on the eastern outskirts near the border.
It looked as though they intended to move her overseas through a series of transfers.
The entire drive there, Ares barely spoke.
From time to time, his grip on Iris’s hand tightened unconsciously.
This time, he 1 underestimated his enemies. He hadn’t expected them to prepare so thoroughly.
Sensing his mood, Iris gently curled her fingers around his hand and squeezed back.
;
“As long as I’m here, Emma will be fine.”
It wasn’t reassurance.
It was simply a fact.
Her phone was monitoring the kidnappers‘ movements in real time.
The moment they showed any sign of relocating, she would deploy attack programs into their systems and delay them

GHE had used similar tactics before.
Based on what she had discovered, she suspected the kidnappers organization had dedicated tech personnel maintaining their systems.
If so, she could use exactly the same method against them.
After all, she had more attack programs than she could ever use.
Emma was being held inside an abandoned house in the small town.
The moment Iris stepped out of the vehicle, she noticed clear signs of recent human activity.
And not activity from weeks ago.
Recent activity.
Her own tension rose instantly.
She hurried into the building alongside the Alliance Secure Mission team.
The house was surprisingly spacious.
They searched several rooms in succession but found no sign of Emma.
“Could this type of house have a basement?”
someone suddenly suggested.
Everyone immediately began searching for a hidden entrance.
One operative took out a handheld scanner.
When he entered what appeared to be a bedroom, the scanner’s red light suddenly began flashing.
This was it.
At the same tir
Iris noticed something strange beneath her feet.
She rubbed the floor with her shoe and discovered a realistic floor covering that blended almost perfectly with the surrounding surface.
Lifting it with the tip of her shoe, she revealed a concealed basement entrance.
“Four people come down with us. Everyone else stays here.”
Too many people in a confined underground space would only get in each other’s way.

“Harry up! Stop dragging your feet!”
“Easy for you to say! Try carrying this damn computer!”
Within seconds, the kidnappers were pinned to the ground and bound tightly with multiple layers of rope.
“Where’s Emma?” Iris ignored his question.
Because she had just realized something far more alarming.
Before he could speak, the other two shoved him hard.
Hah! Aren’t you supposed to be so capable? Go find her yourselves!”
