Chapter 284 Two Programs
Chapter 284 Two Programs
“Wow! There are more terrorists!”
“These two are so hot! Somebody get pictures and post them on the campus page!”
“I like the guy with the deer mask! Wait–why is he heading straight for the fox mask?”
“No way. You’re shipping them already?”

The arrival of the two newcomers instantly erased most of the crowd’s complaints, replacing them with excited chatter.
The moment Iris heard the familiar voice, the hand gripping the edge of the bomb case finally relaxed.
“How much time is left?”
Following Ares’s gaze, she looked down at the countdown timer.
Originally, she had only wanted him to pass a message to the chief instructor.
She hadn’t expected him to recognize the situation immediately and come himself.
“Two minutes.”
Taking a deep breath, she pointed at the last two wires.
Ares nodded.
“This colored smoke is a concentrated version. It’ll take another two or three minutes to fully clear.”
The smoke provided excellent cover for both of them.
“I’ve never seen this exact model before,” Iris said, “but based on previous experience, the real mechanism that stops the countdown probably isn’t here.”
The bomb model number was printed boldly on the side of the casing.
Judging from similar devices she’d encountered before, neither of those two wires was the correct answer.
: “Now that I’m here,” Ares said calmly, “we’ll look together. There’s still time.”
Watching how confidently he handled the device, Iris couldn’t help asking,
“Have you seen something like this before?”
“One of our overseas operations reported a similar bomb a few days ago. I only know its general structure”
Iris’s eyes lit up. “That’s enough. Tell me everything you know.”
The reason she had been moving so slowly was simple:

She lacked information about this particular model.
Ares quickly explained the bomb’s core design principles.
As he spoke, the vague plan in Iris’s mind suddenly became crystal clear.
He wasn’t even halfway through his explanation before she started working.
After a series of taps and inspections, she located a concealed compartment.
Using a screwdriver Ares had brought, she pried it open.
Inside was a red switch.
Iris glanced at him.
Ares reached out and covered her hand with his.
Together, they pressed the switch.
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!–
The red warning light on the bomb began flashing wildly.
An alarm shrieked.
The countdown instantly hit zero.
Ares’s expression hardened.
Without hesitation, he pulled Iris toward him and wrapped his arms around her protectively.
Bang!
The colored smoke was slowly dispersing.
The bomb case suddenly sprang open.
A clown head on a spring popped out of the box.
Attached to it was a small note.
“Surprise!”
Hearing the spring release, Iris pulled away from Ares’s embrace and approached the box.
The bomb’s program had been completely terminated.
She ripped the clown head off the spring.
Then she flipped over the note.

As the smoke finally cleared, Iris returned the box to its original position and left the field together with Ares and the chief instructor.
At last, the showcase resumed its normal schedule.
Still, some unexpected things happened.
A few students filming the performance accidentally captured a brief moment through a gap in the smoke

The deer–masked man holding the fox–masked figure tightly in his arms.
That very night, the campus confession page received multiple submissions.
“Find these two! They’re adorable together!”
“Mom, Dad–I was born again today!”
“Who took this photo? I love this angle! Which department are they from?”
Of course, nobody knew that Ares wasn’t even a student.
Even fewer would have guessed that the mysterious deer–masked man was one of Capital University’s laboratory investors.
Members of Iris’s team knew the fox mask belonged to her.
However, after the event, the chief instructor gathered everyone involved and ordered them not to discuss what had happened.
As for the bomb itself, it was taken away for analysis.
It was probably swapped in a camera blind spot.”
