Chapter 316 Afraid Or Respect?

:

When they walked off the stage, Kaelan instinctively wanted to help Iris down.

She was wearing high heels, and he was worried she might have trouble walking.

But then he remembered what she had told him before going on stage, so he withdrew his hand and simply followed behind her.

Even though Iris was wearing very high heels, her steps remained steady and graceful.

Kaelan turned to her.

“It’s a little cold outside. Why don’t we talk in my dressing room?”

That was exactly what Iris had intended as well.

She followed Kaelan backstage.

The bodyguards stopped the students who tried to follow them, while Kaelan led Iris toward the dressing room.

Just as they reached the door and were about to enter, a large bouquet of red roses suddenly appeared in front of Iris.

She looked up.

Ares Barclay was standing there, waiting for her.

“I originally planned to give these to you directly on stage,” Ares said calmly. “But you were already holding a bouquet, and carrying another one would be inconvenient.”

Iris looked surprised.

“How did you know I would come here?”

“When Kaelan said that you two knew each other, I guessed you would want to catch up. I thought you might need some privacy. Do you want me to leave for a while?”

“No need.” Iris held the bouquet of red roses in her arms.

Ares glanced at Kaelan.

That single look was enough to make Kaelan panic.

He immediately, and very consciously, took the bouquet he had given Iris from her hands.

“Mr. Barclay, let’s go inside and talk first. I didn’t expect you would be here too.”

Looking at the flowers in his arms, Kaelan suddenly realized something.

He quickly explained.

“No, no, Mr. Barclay, it’s not what you think! I don’t mean anything by it! I just-”

“I remember you.” Ares interrupted. “The account Iris used for her livestream before… that was yours, wasn’t it?”

“Livestream? Oh, you mean that time!”

Kaelan suddenly remembered.

There had been one occasion when Zane Walker had suddenly contacted him while he was livestreaming for his fans and asked to temporarily borrow his account for Iris.

Iris glanced sideways at him.

“You still remember something from that long ago?”

Kaelan immediately took the opportunity to complain.

“Even though it was a long time ago, that incident had a huge impact! I was trending for several days because of it. Every day, countless fans and random viewers messaged me asking why my livestream suddenly turned into your broadcast. I didn’t even dare go outside for those few days.”

Ares’s gaze moved between the two of them.

“So what exactly is your relationship?”

He could tell that they were not simply friends.

“You don’t know yet? We…” Kaelan stopped halfway through. He looked at Iris. He had always remembered the company’s rule: Without the boss’s permission, he was not allowed to reveal any information.

But now that things had reached this point, Iris felt there was no reason to keep hiding it.

“You already guessed, didn’t you? We’re not friends.”

Ares nodded. “I can tell. Kaelan seems a little afraid of you.”

“I’m not afraid of her. I respect her!” Kaelan immediately defended himself.

“Kaelan is an artist under our company, and the media company he belongs to is also invested in by Stellar Venture.”

“So that’s how it is.” Ares nodded. “But your relationship seems closer than an ordinary superior and employee relationship.”

Kaelan felt like he had come here today not to perform, but to repeatedly explain himself.

“No, no! It’s just that she has helped me a lot. I’m very grateful to her.”

He was one of the first artists signed under the media company Iris invested in.

“If Miss Noir hadn’t recognized my potential back then, I wouldn’t have achieved what I have today.”

That wasn’t flattery.

It was the truth.

“Oh.”

Ares could also tell.

The way Kaelan looked at Iris contained no romantic feelings.

There was only admiration, respect, and genuine loyalty.

Iris crossed her arms and spoke coldly.

“Since that’s the case, you knew performing together would cause trouble. Why didn’t you refuse directly?”

She truly hadn’t expected Kaelan to agree to merge the performances and even change the song he was supposed to sing.

Kaelan looked slightly embarrassed.
