Mr. Vale wanted to operate as soon as possible and save the patient.

If the young man died in St. Grace Medical Center, his parents would undoubtedly hold the hospital–and him–fully responsible.
But on the other hand, he had already promised never to have any further contact with Lytton Pharmaceuticals or Iris.
If he broke that promise, the other side would expose everything about the medical equipment.
Once again, he found himself trapped.
A
There were only two paths before him, and neither one was a consequence he could afford.
“Do you understand now, Mr. Vale?”
Iris’s calm voice suddenly came through the phone, startling him out of his thoughts.
“Understand what?”
“That they were never trying to help you.” Her voice remained steady. “They only wanted to remove Director Hayes and destroy St. Grace Medical Center. I believe you’ve realized that by now.”
Holding her phone, Iris continued, “Even knowing that, are you still going to work with them? You know St. Grace Medical Center’s standing in the country’s medical community. The company you’re working with isn’t even a domestic enterprise.”
Mr. Vale’s tone softened. “So what? There’s no way out anymore. No matter what I choose, I’ll end up. paying the price.”
“Not necessarily.” Her answer came without hesitation. “If you trust me, there’s a third option.”
“But… you’re Director Hayes’s person.” He still couldn’t bring himself to commit.
“Do you really have a better choice than trusting me?”
Mr. Vale fell silent.
She was right.
At this point, Iris was his only option.
He simply wasn’t willing to accept that reality yet and kept searching for another way out.
Iris waited patiently.
She had waited this long already.
Another few minutes made no difference.

After thinking it through again and again, Mr. Vale still couldn’t come up with a third solution.
“What do you want me to do?”

“For now, continue as if nothing has happened,” Iris said. “If I need your cooperation, I’ll let you know in advance.
“But if you come to the hospital to save someone, they’ll find out. How am I supposed to explain that?”
“You should’ve thought about that before agreeing to work with them.”
“…Is there really no other way?” His voice carried unmistakable guilt.
Glancing at Mrs. Willow beside him, he covered the phone.
“Mrs. Willow, could you step outside for a moment? I need to discuss something confidential with Miss Noir.”
Without suspecting anything, Mrs. Willow hurried out of the office. Saving her son was all she cared about.
Once she was gone, Mr. Vale lowered his voice.
“I don’t want to go to prison. Isn’t there any solution where everyone wins?”
“As hospital director, your first concern should be your patient’s life–not your own interests.”
Seeing that he was still hesitating, Iris simply ended the tall.
Mrs. Willow immediately took back her phone..
“Well? Is Dr. Sutton coming? I thought I heard her agree. Does that mean my son is going to be okay?”
“We… we’re not sure yet.” Mr. Vale avoided answering directly. “Miss Noir said she’d have to see how things go on her end.”
Although he had agreed to cooperate with Iris, his fear of the consequences made him hesitate again.
He still hadn’t made up his mind.
Mrs. Willow had seen every kind of person over the years.
One look at his expression told her the negotiations had failed.
Furious, she slapped the critical condition notice against his chest.
“What exactly are you people doing? If you can’t invite Dr. Sutton, then I’ll do it myself!”
“But let me make one thing perfectly clear. If I’m the one who brings Dr. Sutton here and my son recovers. I won’t go easy on you afterward.”
With that, she stormed away.

Iris had originally left M Vale away out.
Because she had a history with the Willow family, the couple had even intended to spare St. Grace Medical Center for her sake.
