Chapter 347 Closest To Ares
Chapter 347 Closest To Ares
After hearing her answer, the joy in Ares Barclay’s eyes was impossible to hide.
He asked again, almost as if he couldn’t believe it.
“Really? We’ll get engaged as soon as we return home.”
“Mhm.” Iris nodded once more.

Mr. Long had originally come hoping to hear some juicy gossip. Instead, he found himself force-fed an unexpected dose of
romance.
He looked back and forth between them before asking cautiously,
“Mr. Barclay… is this your fiancée?”
When Ares nodded, the last shred of hope in Mr. Long’s heart died.
How could there be such a ridiculous coincidence? He had almost gotten Mr. Barclay’s fiancée killed.
Without another word, he bowed deeply to Iris.
“I’m terribly sorry, Miss! I had no idea you were Mr. Barclay’s fiancée. Please forgive my offense. I’ll accept whatever punishment you see fit.”
“No punishment is necessary.” Iris spoke calmly. “Just bring my friend’s pocket watch.”
“Y-Yes! Right away!”
Feeling as though he’d narrowly escaped death, Mr. Long hurried out of the room.
After he left, Iris thought for a moment before saying,
“But we’ll have to wait until we can get in touch with my third brother. My eldest brother said no one has been able to reach him lately.”
“No problem.” Ares smiled. “I’ll contact him.”
Iris caught the subtle hint in his tone. “You and my third brother are close?”
“We get along well enough.” He shrugged. “If you asked which of your three brothers I’m closest to, it’d probably be your third
brother.”
“What kind of person is he?”
Ares deliberately kept her in suspense. “That’s hard to explain. You’ll understand once you meet him.”
He stood up from his chair and moved to sit beside her.
Iris pointed at the jade token still in his hand.
“What exactly is the story behind that token?”

was actually about to ask you the same question.” He gently turned the jade token between his fingers. “It belonged to an employee who escaped from our casino years ago. Around here, it carries a great deal of authority. Anyone carrying it won’t be harassed.”
tris didn’t mention Celeste by name. “A friend gave it to me.”
“In that case…” Ares looked thoughtful. “Your friend is very likely the employee who escaped from here. We only ever knew her as
X.”
“X…”
Thinking back to how desperately Celeste had refused to return to the United States, Iris finally understood why.
She had probably been terrified of being dragged back here.
“I don’t know every detail,” Ares admitted. “I just own the majority of the shares. Day-to-day operations are handled by the man you met earlier.”
“I see.”
Ares smiled. “Have you eaten yet? Would you like to have dinner together?”
“This is the largest and most luxurious casino in the United States. You can find practically anything here.” He chuckled. “We even have an artificial sky.”
After a brief pause, he added,
“But it’d be better if we had the food brought here instead of eating downstairs with the gamblers.”
Security was excellent, but no system was perfect.
There was always the chance someone dangerous slipped through.
Ares understood her expression immediately.
Without another word, he handed her a tablet and opened the restaurant ordering system.
“You can order from here. They’ll bring everything up once it’s ready.”
Besides restaurants, the casino housed countless entertainment facilities, luxury accommodations, and shopping areas.
If you ignored the gambling, it felt more like an extravagant resort than a casino.
While browsing, Iris accidentally tapped an encrypted menu.
Ares explained, “Mr. Long just sent over the casino’s internal database. It includes the identities of every guest currently inside. If you’re interested, you can look through it.”
“I wasn’t really-”
Before she could finish, Ares had already entered the password and unlocked the system.
“I was only curious…” Her voice trailed off.
