Early the next morning, the school sent a mass notification requiring all senior students to gather in the auditorium after putting down their schoolbags.
Inside the auditorium, Director Reed stood in the center of the stage.
Beside him stood a refined-looking man wearing glasses and a white lab coat.
Iris narrowed her eyes.
She immediately recognized him as the former Lytton Pharmaceuticals employee who had stolen the formula.
Once most of the students had arrived, Director Reed cleared his throat.
“Yesterday, a certain student publicly accused me of harming everyone and claimed that my medicine wasn’t produced by Lytton Pharmaceuticals.”
“To put an end to these baseless rumors, I’ve specially invited a Lytton Pharmaceuticals employee here today.”
After he finished speaking, the man adjusted his glasses and pulled out a company ID badge.
The auditorium’s projector displayed the badge on the giant screen.
Everyone could clearly see both the photograph and the text.
Lytton Pharmaceuticals.
Research and Development Department.
Steven.
Steven accepted the microphone.
“Please rest assured.”
“On behalf of Lytton Pharmaceuticals, I guarantee that there is absolutely nothing wrong with this oral solution.”
The ID badge immediately reassured many of the students who had still harbored doubts.
After all, an actual employee from the company was standing right there.
Surely he couldn’t be fake.

Several students even turned around to glance at Iris.
“She really embarrassed herself this time.”
“Exactly. The school wants us to improve admission rates. Why would they harm us?”
“Does she have some kind of paranoia?”
Director Reed took back the microphone and walked directly toward Iris.
He stared at her, hoping to find even a trace of guilt on her face.
“So, Iris…”
“Do you still have any questions about Lytton Pharmaceuticals?”
A faint smile curved Iris’s lips.
“Oh, I have plenty.”
She rose from her seat and looked straight at Steven on the stage.
Steven had been wondering which fool dared question Lytton Pharmaceuticals.
Then he looked up.
And his soul nearly left his body.
‘Holy crap!’
‘Isn’t that the boss?!’
‘How did selling some medicine at a school end with the boss catching me red-handed?!’
His legs nearly gave out beneath him.
He wanted nothing more than to run off the stage immediately.

Iris picked up the document folder beside her and took the microphone from Director Reed.
“There are several documents inside.”
“Director Reed, would you mind putting them on the screen for everyone?”
He didn’t believe she could possibly produce anything significant.
Without hesitation, he handed the documents to the teacher operating the projector.

As he turned around, he happened to meet Steven’s terrified gaze.
What was wrong with this guy?
Why did he suddenly look like he’d seen a ghost?
Moments later, the first document appeared on the giant screen.
It was an authorization letter bearing Lytton Pharmaceuticals’ official company seal.

The text was enlarged and bold enough for even the students in the back row to read clearly.
The first line stated:
[Lytton Pharmaceuticals hereby authorizes Iris Noir to act as its official representative.]
The second document was a laboratory report issued by Lytton Pharmaceuticals’ own research institute.
It compared the genuine oral solution produced by Lytton Pharmaceuticals with the counterfeit version manufactured by Steven’s company.
The results revealed that due to an error in one step of the synthesis process, Steven’s company had accidentally created a substance that was extremely harmful to the human body.
Combined with Director Reed’s advice to drink more of it, the negative effects would only be accelerated.
“Lytton Pharmaceuticals’ oral solution can only be taken twice a week. Consuming more than that may cause diarrhea or fainting.”
“But this company’s imitation product…”
Iris’s voice turned cold.
“…can cause serious adverse reactions even if it’s only consumed twice a week.”
“And finally, Steven…”
Steven froze when his name was called.
He didn’t even dare lift his head.
The third document appeared on the giant screen.
It was a personnel adjustment report from Lytton Pharmaceuticals.

Beside Steven’s name were two unmistakable words:
Voluntary Resignation.
Someone in the audience immediately shouted,
“He’s not even an employee anymore!”
At that point, Steven’s mind had gone completely blank.

How was he supposed to know that his boss-a figure so powerful and untouchable-was actually a senior at Capital Preparatory Academy?
He wanted to apologize.
But it felt pointless now.
All he could do was stand there stiffly like a statue.
“The company has already contacted the police,” Iris continued.
“You’ll be prosecuted for stealing company secrets.”
Steven’s face turned deathly pale.
After holding it in for a long time, he finally stammered out:
“I was wrong…”
He had simply become blinded by greed.
One reckless decision had ruined everything.
Since Zane had already reported the matter, the police arrived quickly and escorted Steven
away.
Director Reed was also taken in for questioning.
The vice principal had no choice but to step forward and clean up the situation.
Even he felt awkward about how badly things had spiraled.
“Director Reed undoubtedly had good intentions. He was simply deceived by the other party.”
“Anyone who hasn’t opened their medicine yet may return it.”
“The school will also cover all related medical expenses.”

“Iris… do you have any medicine that can reduce the side effects?”
“No.”
She had already warned everyone yesterday.
