Chapter 68 Bribery
Iris Noir was practically dragged onto the stage.
The host looked surprised when she saw her.

She distinctly remembered Chloe Noir being selected for the competition. How had Chloe suddenly turned into Iris?
Still, since Iris was already on stage, she didn’t dwell on it. After briefly introducing the twenty contestants and explaining the competition rules, she continued.
“To ensure complete fairness, we’ve invited the Director of Admissions from M University to serve as the judge for today’s competition!”
As soon as she finished speaking, a curly-haired foreign man stood up from the audience.
He turned toward the crowd, gave a polite nod, and accepted the microphone.
“Hello, everyone. My name is Colin, and I’ll be judging today’s competition between our two schools. My team also prepared the questions for this event.”
He smiled warmly.
“I’m looking forward to seeing these twenty students showcase their talents today.”
As his gaze swept across the stage, it lingered on Iris for a few extra seconds.
The competition quickly grew intense.
Every contestant was hunched over their scratch paper, desperately calculating answers and racing to finish first.
Their work was projected live onto the giant screen above the stage.
Students from both schools sat in the audience holding their breath, silently cheering for their own teams.
One contestant’s scratch paper, however, stood out dramatically from the rest.
“What is that? Is she drawing symbols?”

“Did she just come here to fill a seat and start doodling?”
“Wait, wasn’t she the one who solved Ethan’s problem before?”

“Maybe she got lucky. That question wasn’t even on the college entrance exam syllabus. Who knows how she figured it out?”
Iris’s paper looked like complete chaos.
It seemed as though she was seriously working through something, yet nobody could understand a single symbol she’d written.
It looked remarkably similar to a doctor’s prescription.
Compared to everyone else’s tense expressions, Iris appeared completely relaxed.
Many of the carefully designed questions from both schools were simple enough for her to solve at a glance.
Since she had no interest in interfering with the rivalry between the two schools, she spent her time calculating research data that had recently been sent over from the institute.
Soon, the competition broke for intermission.
The ten students from Capital Preparatory Academy immediately gathered in a circle to review their performance.
“We honestly didn’t have high hopes, but you guys have been amazing!”
“We’re actually ahead by three points!”
Aside from Chloe’s small group of followers, students from every other class enthusiastically praised the five members from the Foundation Class.
The five students looked embarrassed by all the compliments.
“Where’s Iris?”
“No idea.”
“She disappeared the moment intermission started.”

Meanwhile, in the judges’ lounge backstage, Iris sat across from Colin.
She let out a sigh. “What are you doing here?”

Colin looked wounded. “Do you have any idea how long it’s been since you’ve come back to visit us? I figured I’d come see you first.”
Iris wasn’t moved in the slightest. She stared directly at him. “Just tell me what you brought.”
Colin immediately put on an innocent expression.
“Don’t look at me like that! I didn’t come here for work.” He pushed a gift box across the table. “Everyone asked me to bring this to you.”
Before they could continue, someone knocked on the door.
“Stay here. I’ll see who it is.”
Colin shoved the gift box into Iris’s hands and got up to answer the door.
Standing outside was the academic director from Lytton`Private High School.
He was rubbing his hands together nervously, but the moment he saw Colin, a flattering smile spread across his face.
“Mr. Colin, are you comfortable here?”
Colin was confused by the question but answered politely.
“Everything’s been excellent. Thank you for your hospitality.”
The director tried to peek inside the room, but Colin subtly blocked his view.
Realizing the man wanted to discuss something privately, Colin remained in the doorway.
The director lowered his voice.
“The thing is, Mr. Colin, our school has invested heavily in promoting this competition.”
“Our students are excellent, of course… but, we’d like a little extra assurance.”

He glanced around before discreetly pulling out a thick manila envelope.
“It’s just a small token of appreciation. You really must accept it.”
Only then did Colin realize what was happening. He immediately stepped backward.
“No. Absolutely not. The competition is fair, impartial, and transparent.”
Unfortunately, his retreat created an opening.
The director quickly slipped into the room.
“Mr. Colin, perhaps we should discuss this in detail…”

Smiling, he moved toward the table and prepared to set the envelope down.
Then he saw Iris.
His expression froze.
Wasn’t she one of Capital Preparatory Academy’s contestants?
“There’s someone else here?”
The atmosphere instantly became awkward.
Seeing no other option, Colin shut the door.
The director looked at Iris and chuckled knowingly.
“So this student is here delivering gifts on behalf of Capital Preparatory Academy?”
“No.” Iris’s voice was cool and calm.
