But after she enrolled, Noelle basically gave up. She skipped classes. She didn’t study. Oswald talked to her many times, but she never agreed to take the SAT.

Oswald’s grin almost reached his ears. “Noelle! You finally came around! Yes! You should take the SAT! Let everyone see how amazing you are! With you, colleges like Yale or Harvard will be begging for you!”

He quickly handed her a form. “You came just in time. Two more days and the SAT application window closes. Take this home and fill it out.”

Tech schools were different–students had to apply early if they wanted to take the SAT.

Noelle took the form. “I’ll head out then.”

“Yes, yes! Go ahead!” Oswald waved happily. As she walked away, Oswald was already daydreaming. “Wonderful! Our school is about to get famous in three months! The top scholar of the city, the state, maybe the whole country, is going to come from our school!”
