Amanda froze as well. She looked at Anna, who seemed nearly hysterical, then at Noelle and Serena, who looked calm and detached, as if this had nothing to do with them. Sharp as she was, she understood at once.
Yesterday, Anna came back from the black market covered in injuries, claiming she’d been beaten by a woman from overseas. Could that woman be the Miracle Healer?
“Amanda! What are you waiting for? They’re the criminals who hurt me! Arrest them now!”
Anna was still screaming.
“Enough!” Amanda snapped, finally reacting. “What criminals? This is the Miracle Healer!”
“Miracle Healer?” It felt like a hammer slamming down on her head. Anna stared at Noelle in disbelief. How could she possibly be the Miracle Healer?
No.
No way!
“Amanda! Don’t let her fool you! She’s no Miracle Healer at all! She’s a fraud! What are you all standing around for? Grab her right now!”
Just then, a deep, commanding voice rang out from the top of the stairs, heavy with unquestionable authority. “Anna! Haven’t you embarrassed yourself enough?”
The president, Marshall Yeager, had appeared at the stairs without anyone noticing. His face was livid, his eyes sharp as a hawk’s. He shot Anna a hard glare before turning that weighty gaze toward Noelle and Serena.
“Father,” Amanda said respectfully as she turned around.
“Father!” Anna cried out in grievance. “She’s the one who beat me up yesterday! Didn’t you say you’d get revenge for me-”
“Shut up!” Marshall cut in coldly. “This is the Micle Healer, whom we invited to treat your mother. Even if the person who struck you at the black market was her, you’ll just have to take it!”
Anna felt utterly wronged. She wanted to speak gain, but one look from Marshall silenced her. Then Marshall turned to Noelle and Serena with forced courtesy. “Thank you for coming all this way. Please don’t hold this against my daughter. I ask that you treat my wife.”
Noelle didn’t respond right away.

The living room fell deadly quiet. The only sound was Anna’s rough breathing, thick with anger and grievance.
“Mr. President,” Noelle finally said, her voice clear and calm, devoid of emotion. “We promised to treat Mrs. Yeager. I never go back on my word.”
Marshall’s expression eased slightly, and he was about to speak.
But Noelle smoothly changed direction, her tone still even, yet carrying undeniable weight. “However, there are things that need to be made clear before treatment begins.
“Yesterday at the black market, Ms. Anna relied on her status and allowed her people to threaten the life of an innocent young girl, forcing a badly injured boy into an unfair fight to the death. After losing, she even launched a sneak attack with a knife, intending to kill him.
“During that time,” Noelle continued, her voice turning cold, “Ms. Anna repeatedly hurled open insults at my country, with language too vile to repeat. I stepped in to stop it, to uphold fairness, and to defend Florasia’s dignity. As for the injuries on Ms. Anna’s body… they were the price she paid for provoking first and attacking afterward.”
She paused, meeting Marshall’s now deep, unreadable gaze.
“I have always drawn clear lines between right and wrong. We’re willing to go upstairs today to treat Mrs. Yeager because Alliance 749 extended the invitation, because of old ties, and because we honor our word. But that doesn’t mean what happened yesterday can be brushed aside and forgotten.”
Anna couldn’t hold back and shrieked, interrupting, “Who do you think you are? You dare talk like this in front of my father-”
“Anna!”
Marshall barked sharply. When he looked back at Noelle, there was a chill in his eyes.
No matter how skilled she was, he was still a head of state. Noelle’s aggressive stance was a clear affront to his dignity.
gaze. “What happened But thinking of his bedridden wife, he suppressed the coldness in his yesterday is on me. I failed to teach my daughter right. Here, I offer my sincerest apology on her behalf to you and the injured siblings.”
“It was indeed your failure in raising her,” Noelle replied coolly. “Since she wasn’t taught well, then make it right. Lock her up properly and don’t let her harm anyone again.”
With a cold laugh, Noelle turned and strode upstairs.
Serena crossed her arms and followed closely behind.

Amanda stopped Anna, who was about to cause another scene. “Enough! Stop it already! Father went through hell to invite the Miracle Healer. If you drive her away, who’s going to treat Mother?”
Anna was still full of grievance. “So my injuries just don’t count?”
“If you want to settle scores,” Amanda warned, “wait until Mother gets better. After that, I won’t interfere, no matter what you do.”
Upstairs, in Irene’s room.
Heavy curtains were half–drawn, leaving the room dim. The air was thick with the smell of herbal medicine.
Noelle’s gaze went straight to Irene.
She lay on the bed with her eyes closed, her brow faintly furrowed in pain.
“A month ago, Irene suddenly became bedridden,” Marshall said, his voice carrying exhaustion and a trace of barely hidden hope. “We consulted countless doctors, but all of them were helpless. They only said it was a rare and complicated illness, with no clear cause.”
