His face went ghost–white, his lips trembling as he struggled to say anything.

Willow didn’t look much better.

“It’s all pretty clear now,” Oswald said. “Elmer laid his hands on my student, Noelle! He’s already 17, old enough to be held criminally responsible. Attempted murder… That’s what, at least three years in prison, up to 10? Fine. Let him have it!”

He ended his statement with a hard slam on the desk.

Willow gritted her teeth. “So what if my son threw the first punch? Noelle probably had it coming!”

“And what do you mean by ‘leave it at that‘?” Noelle said with a faint laugh, casually spinning her phone in her hand. “Mrs. Kain, you sure think highly of yourself.”

“Noelle, don’t forget that your birth certificate is still with me. I could easily pull a few strings, and you’d be kicked out of trade school, and as your mother, I could even send you to a behavioral correction facility. Lock you up. You sure you want to go there?”

Noelle narrowed her eyes, irritation flashing across her face.

Yeah, she really had overlooked that part–she’d forgotten to take the birth certificate back.

Noelle’s fingers had just started to move on her phone when Willow’s own phone rang.

It was a call from Gresham.

No one knew what Gresham said on the other end, but Willow’s face changed instantly.

“Come back now? But our son, he… Okay… alright, I got it.”

She hung up, casting a complicated look at Elmer. “Viola, we’re leaving.”

Gritting her teeth, she stormed out with Viola without saying a single word to Elmer.

Elmer was dumbfounded. “Mom? Mom! Where are you going?! I’m still here!”

“She doesn’t want you anymore,” Noelle said with a mocking smile.

With Willow gone, Elmer no longer had anyone to back him up.

Even Kenneth hadn’t expected Willow to leave so abruptly.

“Ms. Kain, uh … this-”

“Officer Conner, handle it however you need to. Don’t let any of them off the hook,” Noelle said coldly.

She gave Elmer and the others a slow, cruel smile.

She didn’t stick around at the station for long and left with Oswald.

As soon as she stepped outside, she spotted Primo waiting by the curb.

She turned down Oswald’s offer to drive her and walked over instead. Primo respectfully opened the car door for her. “Mrs. Menzie, Mr. Menzie asked me to pick you up.”

Noelle had been wondering why Willow had changed so drastically after just one phone call, but the moment she saw Primo, it all made sense.

Sebastian must’ve pulled some strings behind the scenes.

Her heart warmed. Aw, her Sebastian really did love her.

Back at the Melrose Manor, Sebastian had already learned everything that had gone down at the police station.
