Sebastian respected Noelle’s wishes and gave the order exactly as she asked.
Not long after, the Kains were informed of Noelle’s condition.

They had expected her to make some outrageous demand, but to their surprise, all she wanted was to cut ties.
“She thinks just because she’s got that man from Melrose Manor backing her, she’s suddenly untouchable? So eager to sever ties with the Kains–what, is she afraid we’ll cling to her in the future?” Willow let out a bitter laugh.
Noelle’s really gotten full of herself.
That man at Melrose Manor might be powerful beyond reason, sure, but no one had ever seen him truly care about a woman. If he really liked Noelle, would he have kicked her out in the first place?
And besides, the man was notoriously moody, half–paralyzed, and probably didn’t have long to live. How long could he realistically protect her anyway?
“Fine. Let her go. I don’t believe the Kains will ever need her for anything,” Willow sneered.
Not even half a day passed before the Kains handed over Noelle’s birth certificate.
Just her–and one document, her birth certificate.
She was only 18, still under the legal marriage age. She and Sebastian hadn’t registered their marriage, and she couldn’t list her legal address under his yet.
Noelle picked up her phone and dialed a number.
Janice’s real boyfriend.
That poor fool probably had no idea he was just the side piece in this little love triangle.
Elmer stumbled out of the police station, looking like he’d been dragged through the dirt.
Gresham hadn’t come to get him. He hadn’t even bothered to look his way.
It was Willow who came to pick him up.
Viola was already in her senior year and swamped with schoolwork, and she couldn’t afford

to keep getting involved, so she’d gone back to class that afternoon.
“This is all that bitch Noelle’s fault! I swear I’ll make her pay!”

“Elmer, honey, don’t think about her right now. You’re hurt pretty bad. Let’s get you to the hospital first,” Willow said, forcing a calm tone.
Just as they were about to get into the car, someone suddenly rushed out of nowhere.
“You’re Elmer?”
The guy looked young, maybe 17, 18 tops.
“That’s me. What about it?”
“You had the balls to mess with my girlfriend? You must have a death wish!”
Before Elmer could react, Stephen Hubbard swung and punched him straight in the face!
The hit left Elmer dazed. He yelled, “What the hell is your problem?! Who the hell did I mess with?”
“Janice! She’s my girlfriend!”
Stephen roared back.
“You’re insane! She’s my girlfriend!”
“Yours? We’ve been together since we were kids, childhood sweethearts!”
Stephen pulled out his phone and shoved it in Elmer’s face, showing photo after photo of him and Janice together.
Elmer stared in shock.
He’d been head over heels for Janice, sending her nearly two million dollars, and even ended up in a police station today just for her. And now… he was the side piece?
Suddenly, he remembered what Noelle had told him before. She’d warned him Janice wasn’t a good person, told him to stay away or he’d regret it.
But he hadn’t listened.
Willow and Viola stood frozen in disbelief. For people of their social status, getting caught in this kind of drama was a first.
Two men fighting over one woman–and Elmer was the other guy? It was insane.

Elmer’s face darkened, but he refused to admit he was the one being played. Gritting his teeth, he snapped, “So what if you’ve known her longer? What matters is who Janice really
wants!”
Stephen let out a cold laugh. “Oh, you wanna play that game? Fine. Let’s settle this the man’s way. Heard you’re real into bikes, yeah?”
He smirked. “Perfect. So am 1. Let’s race. Five days from now. Mount Emberwing. Winner gets Janice. Loser backs off for good.”
“Fine! Let’s race! I’m not scared of you!”
“Race, race, race! What’s the point? Do you know how dangerous motorcycle racing is? Son! You cannot go!” Willow panicked, trying to talk him down.
“Ugh, Mom! Why are you so annoying? Just stay out of it!” Elmer snapped, slamming the car door as he got in.
Noelle had already heard about Elmer agreeing to race Stephen, and honestly, she wasn’t surprised.
Elmer had always been the hotheaded type.
The Kains would definitely try to stop him from going, and they’d throw everything they had at him to talk him out of it, but Elmer had a talent for doing exactly what he wasn’t supposed to. He’d show up at Mount Emberwing. No doubt about it.
