“No! It wasn’t me–it was you!” Rachel screamed, bloodshot eyes locked on Noelle. “If you hadn’t shown up, I’d still be a respected medical officer! You ruined me! I knew Sebastian before you did! You stole him from me!”

“Stole?” Noelle laughed softly and tilted her head. “When was he ever yours?

“You’ve known him all this time, and he never felt anything for you. Maybe you should think about why.”

Each word cut deep.

Rachel shook with rage, but no words came out.

“I didn’t steal Sebastian. You never mattered to him, and he never wanted you. That was all in your head. You were the one chasing

him.”

That final blow shattered what was left of Rachel.

She collapsed to the floor. Tears mixed with blood streamed down her face. She couldn’t say a single word.

“Drag her out. Deal with her by IBI rules,” Sebastian said coldly. “Rachel, for your father’s lifetime of service, I’ll spare his only bloodline. I won’t kill you, but that’s all.”

She would live, but every punishment meant for her would still fall.

Rachel would live a fate worse than death.

Sebastian wrapped an arm around Noelle and guided her out. The dungeon was damp, filthy, and reeked of blood. He didn’t want her there a second longer.

They stepped out of the dark cell, and afternoon sunlight washed over them.

Noelle narrowed her eyes, soaking in the warmth. The gloom faded in an instant.

She’d stayed at IBI for a month. It was time to go back to Florasia.

School would start in half a month. She needed to report to Kingstowne University.

IBI’s senior officials knew she was leaving and felt reluctant.

They’d just grown close to her, and now she was leaving. None of them wanted her to leave.

Victor was the first to arrive, holding a finely made medical kit. “Mrs. Menzie, these are tools I’ve treasured for years. Please take them.”

Garrick wasn’t about to lose. He handed her a folder. “This is our network in Florasia. If you ever need help, you can use it anytime.”

Noelle stared at the pile of gifts, feeling amused.

She was just going to school, not heading into a battlefield. Were all those really needed?

Elliot and Eden came to see her off as well.

Noelle was closest to them. She handed over pills she had refined herself.

“These will strengthen your bodies and open your meridians. They’re great for combat training.” Noelle patted Elliot’s shoulder. “Work hard. Next time I hear about you, don’t just be a main member. At least make captain.”

“Yes, Mrs. Menzie!”

Elliot nodded hard.

Troy and Zeph showed up as well. Noelle only asked Troy to stop clashing with IBI. They were family now and should get along.

Troy’s mustache bristled. “They’re not my family!”

That annoyed IBI’s senior officials. Garrick snorted, about to fire back, when Troy awkwardly added, “But for Boss’s sake, we’ll keep the peace.”

Zeph scratched his head. “Boss, don’t worry. We’ll do what you say.”

Garrick calmed down and muttered just as stiffly, “Fine. We’ll listen to Mrs. Menzie and… begrudgingly get along.”

The other officials nodded, equally awkward.

Noelle burst out laughing. What a bunch of awkward, stubborn old men.

IBI’s business was finally settled.

Sebastian and Noelle took a helicopter back to Florasia.
