Chapter 219 It’s Really You
The most miserable one wasn’t Jasper. It was Elmer, the one who lost his legs.

Because of Louise, Jasper barely went back to the Kain’s estate. He didn’t take care of Elmer, and Gresham never cared about him to begin with. So Elmer was left completely alone.
On the second floor of the Kain’s estate, in a room hidden in the far corner.
The air was stale, thick with medicine, damp mold, and a faint rotten smell.
Elmer lay stiff on the cold bed, like a broken puppet. Heavy casts wrapped both legs, weighing him down like chains, trapping him in this tiny, hopeless space.
His throat burned with thirst. He licked his cracked, peeling lips and forced out a sound. “Water… Give me water…”
His voice was dry and weak. In the empty room, it didn’t even echo.
He couldn’t remember when he last drank anything. The new housekeeper, Susan–fat–faced with sharp, nasty eyes–treated every meal like a favor. She’d toss a cold, nearly spoiled plate onto the nightstand and walk away. She never helped him drink and wouldn’t even meet his eyes.
Bang!
The door was shoved open. Susan stomped in carrying a battered tray. On it sat half a rock–hard piece of bread and a tiny plate of unknown pickled veggies.
“Mr. Elmer, time to eat.” She slammed the tray onto the cabinet. There was no respect in her tone–only disgust.
‘Water… Susan, please… water…” Elmer begged with what little strength he had left.
Susan snorted at him. “Water? Just wait. I’ll bring it when I’m done. Do you still think you’re some precious scion? Always remember who runs this house now!”
der mockery pierced his chest. Anger shook him, but he didn’t even have the energy to argue.
Just then, Louise walked in gracefully, holding a cup of warm water.
‘Susan, how can you talk to Elmer like that?” Louise frowned, her tone sharp with blame, though her eyes stayed indifferent.
Susan’s face instantly flipped to fawning. “Ohl Mrs. Kain, why are you here? This filthy room will dirty your eyes. I was just busy. I’ll go get Mr. Elmer’s water right away.”
Louise ignored her. She moved closer to the bed, smiling gently. “Elmer, you must be so thirsty. Here, drink.”
She carefully lifted his head and pressed the cup to his lips.
Elmer was dying of thirst and gulped down the cup in front of him, even choking on it.
Then something felt off. A sharp burn ripped through his throat. He grabbed his neck, eyes blown wide. “This isn’t water! It’s urine! You–you!”

“Oh? Is it?” Louise gave a soft laugh. “Still does the job, though. Go on, drink it.”
Pure fear crossed Elmer’s face.

She kept that smile. “What’s the problem? I heard you used to make Noelle drink this. If she could swallow it, why can’t you?”
Without any change in tone, she poured the rest of the urine into his mouth.
“The weather is great. Put Elmer in his wheelchair and let him enjoy some sunshine,” Louise said lightly. The servants dragged him into the wheelchair at once. Panic filled his eyes as they wheeled him away.
Louise followed along. When they reached the top of the long staircase, she chuckled and kicked. Elmer tumbled straight down in the wheelchair.
His screams echoed through the entire villa.
But no one came.
Noelle walked through the night market.
She’d spent a month at IBI. Harlan still needed his meds, so she brought back a fresh batch.
After handing them off, she wandered past the stalls.
Lucas messaged her.
More accurately, he texted the three–person chat with Sebastian and her.
“You two are finally back!
“You ran off to have fun. Do you know how I survived this whole month?
“I booked a full table of amazing food! Same place as always. Get here now! I’m throwing you a welcome party!”
Sebastian replied with a facepalm emoji and said okay.
Noelle laughed and sent back a sharp salute emoji.
That was when a strong stench of alcohol, mixed with heavy despair, hit her from behind.
