Noelle glanced at Lucas–his jaw tight, irritation written all over him–then looked to Sebastian. Seeing him give a slight nod, she answered calmly, “Don’t worry, Grandpa. We’ll be there.”

“Good! Good!” Ronald laughed in delight. “Then, it’s settled. Sunday night–don’t be late!”

As if afraid they’d change their minds, he hung up immediately.

Sebastian set the phone on the table and looked at Lucas, who was clearly unhappy. His tone was even. “Mr. Steele personally asked. You should give him that respect. And he’s not wrong–you’re in Kingstowne. Skipping your father’s 50th would look bad.”

Noelle chuckled. “Besides, I’m kind of curious. What kind of snake pit is the Steele household that makes you avoid it like the plague?”

He called again. No response. “Mr. Ethan?”

His gaze drifted involuntarily to a private room on the second floor. One window was ajar, giving him a clear view inside. He saw Sebastian, Lucas, and Noelle.
